I thought that it would be fun to see what other people received for Christmas that they absolutely LOVED! While I'm thankful for my health and the love of my family, I'm particularly excited to have received a CineMoco Dolly!

What's your favorite present?

Very nice! Anyone else? It doesn't have to be photo/video related.

Lisa - are you talking about a new baby? For no good reason, I thought you were talking about your daughter, the student!

Oh - whoops.  I misread the thread.  I thought it was the best thing you EVER got for Christmas.  I didn't mean to be vague.  This was my daughter who is over 20 and now in college. Liz, you're right, I only have the one.

Thanks very much for the kind words.  Sorry I was not clearer on that.  How embarrassing.    :-[

LMAO.... I was thinking oh poor Lisa that will be a big life change......

I got a lovely Coach bag!  Never would have asked for something so extravagant!  I had asked for a breadmaker and a new spatula!

My daughter home from college for the holidays....couldn't ask for anything better.  The times she'll be staying at (my) home for anymore than a few days at a time are running out so this is the best 'gift' I could ask for.

Lisa, I'm glad that you're not starting the new year with a new baby. They're a lot of work! Like you, my son is 20 years old and that makes me very happy!   ;D

I got a Healthy 17 year old daughter this year. My daughter had been sick for almost 3 years and was in and out of hospitals and had taken a trip to the Mayo Clinic. She has completely recovered and our family celebrated an awesome Christmas together.

..... but I did get me a couple small items this year before Christmas that I consider my presents. New Tripod, L-Bracket, and Macro Focus rail.

It was this quote in another thread that made me wonder - either that or you'd haave been a very cool mature mum:
"I hadn't planned to take December off uploading, but with all the Christmas preparations, cooking, shopping, wrapping, singing at church, etc. just didn't find time. "

That's OK, but you have to admit it was a present you'll never forget.

Glad you have healthy kids - the best gift we all can get - Like Lisa, I too have a Christmastime child - she turns 21 today! and having her home from college for the holidays is always my favorite gift. This year in addition to baking cookies together I taught her how to make a pie crust and we just spent a lot of time hanging out and having fun. She got me a thermos that looks like a zoom lens complete with a tripod collar for a handle and even an "N" for Nikon.

I also got an email right before Christmas from The Museum of the City of New York telling me one of my photos is going to be in a show there this week which was exciting! Here's the link to the show. http://www.mcny.org/event/rising-waters-20

And I got a beautiful pair of cowboy boots.  All in all a very lovely Christmas! Hope it was good for all of you who celebrate and wishing you all a Happy New Year too!

Lovely!  And how wonderful for your family that she is in good health after 3 years of worry.  That is an awesome Christmas gift!

Very nice thread to read.  Congrats everyone on the wonderful, happy healthy children and the other great gifts!

Click, congratulations on your baby.  Such an exciting time when you have a little one.  :)

Tdahl, wonderful news about your daughter!  Nothing scarier than when your child is having health issues.  I can't think of a better gift than having your daughter healthy and happy.  I think that's what all of us with kids aim for, and anything above that is gravy.

I didn't realize so many of us here had college age kids.  The empty nest thing is tough, for sure.  I seem to have turned into the weird lady who treats her dog like she's a child.  ;D

Having them home for the holidays is awesome!

I'm just glad that my son is old enough to:
  • Have a job so that he can loan ME money for a change  ;)
  • Pursue his enjoyment of photography

It's nice that he likes to help out whenever he can. He is polite, funny, and intelligent and I constantly marvel that I somehow managed to produce a worthwhile human being without the slightest clue of what I was doing!
