Title: Christmas and New Years wishes
Post by: thijsdegraaf on December 20, 2021, 09:27
I didn't see a Christmas New Year topic yet. So I open one. Best wishes for the new year and a merry Christmas!
The Netherlands is from today in lockdown. This time mainly as a precaution. Friday we get a booster shot. And.... son and friend (their daughter before) have Corona since today, luckily they have been vaccinated twice. So few visitors at Christmas. Hopefully everything goes well. (No corona discussion please, because then this topic will disappear  ;D )

Hopefully next year nicer weather, less corona and more sold photos.  :)

Every year I make a New Year's card to send digitally to people who didn't receive a real card. On Shutterstock we had a topic where we complained that the winters aren't what they used to be. Fortunately, we had a week of frost and some snow in the Netherlands in February this year. A nice memory of the time when I was young and skated from village to village on the canals with friends. Or even younger behind a chair on the ditch in front of my parental home.

Not a spectacular Christmas card that gets stolen. Are there others who make such a card for digital use?

Thijs, thanks so much for starting this thread! We needed it.

The following is a timely, late-2021 update of "The Night Before Christmas," a traditional poem that's been popular forever here in the USA, and maybe in other countries, too.

I just gotta share it… along with my best wishes that all my Microstock Group friends will enjoy a safe, healthy, warm, and snug holiday season.

Martha

A COVID CHRISTMAS

Thanks Martha.
Although we still celebrate Sinter Klaas in the Netherlands, is Santa Claus getting popular. And that while Santa Claus comes from our Sinter Klaas. (is that still known in America?)
Here is an American talking about both celebrations: https://kristeninclogland.wordpress.com/2016/02/07/sinterklaas-santa-claus-and-why-our-children-celebrate-both/ (https://kristeninclogland.wordpress.com/2016/02/07/sinterklaas-santa-claus-and-why-our-children-celebrate-both/)

A COVID CHRISTMAS

You just couldn't restrain yourself right? Maybe you should just go away with your vaccist wishes and just leave this site to Microstock photography.

Go gospel somewhere else.

Something friendlier would be nice.  :) I don't want to make this a discussion page either. Although this is, when I think of good wishes, something that is high on my wish list But as I wrote indeed no C. discussion, because (as you know) then my topic will disappear. Let's stick to Christmas and New Years wishes

Best wishes for the new year and a merry Christmas! SVH (I missed that a bit  ;)  ) !

Well, thank Martha for it if it does.

And for best whishes, I wish everybody (vaccinated or not!) a Merry Christmas unless you are not christian and then I just wish you happy holidays.

And Thijs, my new years wish is that you will not mention the Netherlands in each of your comments but just comment from your own heart. I know you think it's a great country but actually that was a long a time ago. Around the 18th century or somewhat  ;)

Maybe you're actually a really nice person, but you definitely don't act like that. I don't hide behind a pseudonym to insult everyone.
I do tell where I come from, not to brag about my very small country. I also find it interesting to know how others are doing in other countries. How people think about things there. But of course you only write this to harass people.
How do I ruin someone's heartfelt New Years wishes. You did it. Congratulations

You wrote to Martha: Maybe you should just go away. Maybe it's better you leave with your bully.

Whoever you are, Mr., Mrs., Ms., Dr., Professor, photo-shooting pro, or whatever anonymous SVH, I think you are seriously in need of a life.

Ho! Ho! Ho!

Who are you to tell me to go away?

So many good folks have left this site due to exactly what happen on this string.

Started out nice and went south very fast! Sad but true on how just one rotten apple ruins the rest of the bushel even if all the rest of the apples are fine!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Years! Hope we all have a good 2022!  :)

Same to you and everybody else here!

To keep peace in the MSG family, I've deleted the poem that I thought was cute and funny but which stirred up a hornet's nest that I did not intend.

Covid is reality. So is the Netherlands. Both are part of the world we live in. Whereas Corona now occupies more space on Microstock than the Netherlands. Sorry, Thijs, but it is the truth! ;-)

Personally, I would very much appreciate it if members of this forum are allowed to post their own personal contributions, filled with the content they deem important.

I do not live in the Netherlands. It is not my home country. But I like to learn about this country. Just as I like to learn about other countries. It broadens my horizon. I don't know what the problem is....
