I've heard some say that you can over populate a catagory but is it really so? I understand if you have 100000 photographers making an image of a dude in a business suit and each submits 100 images yeah you are not going to get your images to stand out easily. What I'm curious about though is if your images are not the same as others could you still cause that same over supply thing or if anything would be best at thta point to pump out as many of the images that you can?

If you insist to supply in an over supplied subject, I think the best thing to do would be to supply as many as you can (+best possible quality) until one of your files find a place itself a good place in the search and start to generate consistent sales. Once you have such a file it may be logical to wait at that point in order not the beat it. Sometimes 1 file = 100 files in terms of revenue.

I'm more curiour about more of a niche of not oversupplied area. Could I hurt myself if I start pushing out tons of images in a niche or low supply market place if the demand is there?
Can you really compete with yourself or if there isn't much supply would putting out as many images as you can in that low supply area be a good thing?

I cover my niche markets thoroughly but try not to upload images that are too similar. After a year or so I will add similars to keep things fresh.

How many "standing out from the crowd" pictures are needed before standing out from the crowd is impossible...

...and thus you have Microstock in a nutshell...
