I managed to get an iTunes USA account set up, but in order to add funds I need a gift card or credit card from the states.

does someone with an american itunes account feel like buying me a gift card from their american itunes store so I can add funds to my american account.  I can pay out back right away with paypal.

Why I want funds in my american itunes account?  Sometimes iphone apps, movies, or music are available in the US store which aren't available in the Canadian store.

send me a PM if you are willing.

I would happily do this for you, but you might want to check on whether it will actually work for you.

I mention this because I have family in the UK. We have tried various ways to be able to deal with accessing an iTunes store not in your home country and to date, have given up. Attempts from the UK to access the US store kept getting redirected (I assume Apple does something to detect where you are physically based on your ISP).

We now PayPal money to the other country to let someone in that country do the buying for that country. The rules are so stupid, but I guess we're not quite at a global marketplace yet :)

Yeah i am pretty sure it will work.  I have managed to 'buy' free iphone apps without a problem in the US store. I have a US store account - just no money in it.  I will be trying with a low value gift card though... just in case.

I just tried to do this and for some reason every credit card I have tried and even my paypal balance all get the message "credit card is declined"  I have tried on two different computers with two separate itunes accounts and keep getting "declined".

Customer service is on holiday, so nothing I can do until Monday.  Hope someone else has more luck...

If anyone figures out how to get them to accept a (VALID) credit card could you let me know???
