Title: Eurovision 2025. Your choice?
Post by: stoker2014 on May 18, 2025, 02:26
I see that Austria won, the singer who is a fan of some Russian opera singer. In my opinion, his song had neither a melody nor lyrics that could be repeated.

Personally, I liked Great Britain the most. There is a melody, there is a song and there are good voices. Considering that Eurovision is a song contest, not an opera contest, I am surprised that the audience gave little points to Great Britain.

Ukraine performed well as always, but this time weakly. 9th place is of course not fair, but 5th place would have been normal.

Luxembourg, it was a great performance. Definitely second place (if not first), but for some reason they only got 22nd place.
In short, I see either stupidity or corruption everywhere here.
And what kind of joke is this, one person can vote 40 times. Idiocy.

I did not watch this year, for obvious protest reasons.

I don't understand anything. Do you live in the EU? Why are you protesting against Eurovision?

In my opinion, Israel performed no better than Ukraine. It received second place undeservedly.

They "invested" in their votes by rigging it. They did the same thing last year. Just go on the internet how they are boasting that they spent a lot of money with 3 different sim cards from different countries and various credit cards.

12 points from spain, 10 from ireland...impossible...

They made a mockery of eurovision.

They should have been banned for many reasons, including the way they manipulated the vote. There is also an article somewhere how proud there were of "investing" in supporting their artist. Even mocking other countries who do not give the same "support"  to their team.

If the rigging is not stopped, eurovision is dead. If the results just depend on voting bots or voting multiple time with mutiple cards, vpns and credit cards, it makes no sense.

Eurovision is a JOKE FESTIVAL. This is why great performers do not go. Trash songs, trash music, and in most cases, trash performers.

Eurovision Song Contest is very popular. A lot of people watch it, people vote, a lot of money is invested in this show. This is a competition for young singers who need a start and need advertising. But for example, Ukraine has sent professional singers several times.
This year, in general, I liked many of the songs, unlike previous years.
In any case, it depends on how you feel about this competition. You can support your country, or you can not be interested in this competition.

In the music industry, the Eurovision Song Contest is an event that attracts a lot of viewers. I don’t know of any other festivals (competitions) in Europe that attract so much attention.

UK was by far one of the worst songs.

Ukraine was weak too. Israel had no place on the stage. (If they can ban Russia, they can ban Israel too). Sending an Oct 7 survivor is begging for pity votes.

Didn't like Austria all that much, but I'm glad Israel didn't win. I think even the EBU was happy it wouldn't be in Tel Aviv next year...
Switzerland was snubbed, zero points for a great performance was just totally undeserved.

Although I'm biased, the Netherlands also deserved a top 10 spot, but the televote was unforgiving.

You see how opinions differ. Yes, there was a little plagiarism, but overall the song turned out great. And the performance is also great. According to Eurovision rules, a small percentage of plagiarism is allowed.

Ukraine was weak too.
Yes, Ukraine sent light artillery this year.
Nevertheless, Ukraine entered the top 10, which is already a success.
Ukraine has won this competition many times already. Probably, Ukraine decided that it was necessary to give other countries the opportunity to win.  ;D

Switzerland and the Netherlands had good songs, but the singers sang them weakly. Good singers sing such songs much stronger. I expected a stronger response, more emotions, better voices, but it was not there.
Personally, I like French chanson, but it seems that it is never popular at Eurovision.

The Eurovision Song Contest is becoming popular all over the world. Australia is already taking part. And I think the US should join in too.

Barbara Pravi did very well with Voila.

I hope the US will never be allowed to join, let's keep Eurovision as European as possible (I don't even really understand why Australia was allowed to be a regular participant, but at least they're passionate about it, unlike the US)

Barbara Pravi did very well with Voila.
Yes, the performance of the song was very good. It was in 2021.
France got the second place. But probably in the last 30 years this is the only good result for French chanson.

Here are the results. Yes, in the last 30 years, in 2021, this is only the first good place.

1958: André Claveau won the contest for the first time with "Dors mon amour".

1960: Jacqueline Boyer sang "Tom Pillibi" and won again.

1962: Isabelle Aubret also won with "Un premier amour".

1969: Frida Boccara shared first place with three other countries with "Un jour, un enfant".

1977: Marie Myriam won France for the fifth time with "L'Oiseau et l'Enfant".

1991: Amina won second place with "Le dernier qui a parlé".

2021: Barbara Pravi won second place with "Voilà".

Hence the conclusion, French chanson has gone out of fashion. Or, the performers sing badly. I am inclined to the second conclusion, because Switzerland and the Netherlands performed the songs badly.
France in 2025 also showed an average level of performance. The singer is average-weak.

Spain accuses Ukraine and Israel.

Both Ukraine and Israel performed well and deserve to be in the top 10 performers. If Spain took the last place at Eurovision, then let them start talking about it. Yes, second place for Israel is not fair. But 9 or 10 is quite acceptable.
 ;D

Spain! Say straight out that you are not happy with the last place at Eurovision!
 ;D ;D ;D

According to CNN.

The good, the bad and the raunchy: All 26 Eurovision songs, ranked from worst to first.
....
Ukraine: Ziferblat, “Bird of Pray”
Ukraine excels at Eurovision like nobody else. This song is bold – it might be the hardest entry to pin down musically. The costumes are pure glam rock, but even camper; the melodies zoom around and never end up quite where you’d expect. An acquired taste, but Nemo likes it: “One of the most interesting (songs) musically – it’s very daring, bold, but beautiful.”

Can never fathom why some people are ok with what Hamas did on Oct 7.
