Title: Fixing/repairing a damage .MOV file
Post by: tab62 on March 13, 2013, 12:46
Hi MSG folks,

Does anyone know of program that can fix a damaged .mov file. The user pulled out the flash memory while it was still being read. I was able to get most of their jpg files but when I try to play the videos- nothing. I have tried several movie players but nothing has worked so far. I was thinking they might be a program that can attempt to repair the video file.

Thanks

T

You could try Divx Doctor- sometimes it works, depending on how much is there.
Also, VLC media player can sometimes repair files. VLC can also play files that others won't play, so its worth a try. Hope it works.
Make sure the preferences are set so that it doesn't write over the original- save to a new location.

Maybe you could try to open with a video editor and then crop the part that's usable? That is if it's possible for the video editor to open a corrupt file and show the frames.

Try to open your corrupted MOV file on other media player. If the situation remains same, launch Remo Repair on your system and fix corrupted or damaged MOV file.

The worst part is when you are unable to play your favorite video. I was very disappointed when I was unable to play my MOV file but luckily got a post through Google search which helped me to the fix on my own. Now I can enjoy my video anytime anywhere.
