to put the question into perspective...

would you buy a rolls royce to pick up passengers if you were a taxi driver?

I do remember from my days in Germany that Taxi Drivers there drove Mercedes.   ;D

Bummer... that was one of my fondest memories ... especially after I had to pay for the damage my daughter did to a German Taxi -- Mercedes.  It was her first (of many) accidents.
And, the taxi was parked when she hit it!!!

I know cameras are the focus of this thread, but cameras need to be plugged into something. Anyone think there is a max amount of money that should be spent on a computer with the primary use of the computer being to produce microstock images?

if you're doing microstock, there's really no justification for paying more than $1000 for a camera.  the quality of cheaper cameras is just as good, even for silly mega requirements of places like istock or alamy -- most sales at other sites are by subscription and you give away camels at donkey prices.  it's absurd that the same picture at DT costs $10 by and individual but $.35 by subscription, but we're trapped in an oligopoly - capitalism at its worst

A recent survey from Dreamstime which can shed some light on this topic:http://petapixel.com/2013/07/21/stock-site-stats-reveal-the-most-popular-cameras-among-stock-photographers/

Looks like 5DMKii is the king of microstock...:)

not surprised to hear the 5D Mark II is king. Also when I lived in Germany (1983-1986) all the taxi's were Mercedes as well! I was shocked to see such nice cars!
