As off topic as I can get, and I don't follow basketball (especially not pros), except college once a year for March Madness.

Two games tonight and final on Monday night for the NCAA college division one championship.

I have FL in a brackets pool and live in Wisconsin, so ideally Wisconsin wins it all and I'm a happy loser.  :)

UCON is ahead of FL and the WI Badgers play next against Kentucky. All four teams are excellent.

I used to live in Badger Hall, on Badger Hall Avenue. But I'm not sure who the Badgers are, though I read today that a prominent British personality feels that it would be humane to gas them.

I thought the same. I was surprised that the US has the same issue of bovine TB being spread by badgers as the UK.

Very funny, and as usual, different countries, different issues, we might as well be on different planets.  :)

Badgers are the school mascot for University of Wisconsin Madison, one of the Big Ten Sports Conference schools in the US.

The name is actually historical as there were lead miners in the SW part of the state that spent the Winter dug into hillsides and caves, much like a Badger. They got that nick name. So it made sense for the university to pick a tenacious animal for the logo and mascot.

PS lost in the last seconds of the game to the Kentucky Wildcats, who will be playing against the UCON Huskies in the final game. (The Huskies beat the Florida Gators earlier today)

There's the Zoo and animal update from the good old US of A.  ;D

I thought Badgers was a reference to the thread on SS about chaps with beards - who generally look as if they are eating one.
