I like my sandwiches very simple.  Cheese + either hamburger, ham or turkey.  Perhaps lettuce.  No sauce, mayo or ketchup.

Regards,
Adelaide

PS: Having watched the video now, I wonder if there is more meat in one of those sandwiched than those folks eat in a day, maybe a week. Something to think about.

I'm somewhat disturbed that they are feeding these people highly processed food ingredients. Not the healthiest thing, in my opinion, but I do like a good hamburger every now and then in great moderation.

Hell, since we 're all here for a short time, why not clog the arteries when we're still able to. I'll skip neither of them, give me a large poutine  ;D

Oh please. They could have done this in California, just find a bunch of vegans.  ;D

Notice how these people eat seals and other animals? Did you see how many are wearing real fur? Lets not be politically correct, and just enjoy that the world is different and the video, even if it's designed as advertising, is pretty entertaining. My favorite part is people who can eat with two sticks (which I still have difficulty after years) and use their hands to eat almost everything, trying to figure out what to do with something on a bun.

Never tasted a pickle before. That's fantastic. I worked in an Indonesian restaurant for awhile and ate what the staff ate. Loved that curried tripe. Sometimes the meals still had eyes and looked back at me. I made it a point to not ask, until after I was done eating, "what was that"?  :D Some of the most amazing tastes and delicate sauces. Oh yes, I like hot and spicy food.

How many of you would understand signs that say no eating Durian in the hotel room?

Now if they had used this instead, I wonder?

Big N' Tasty: Quarter Pound 100% Beef Patty, Sesame Seed Bun, Leaf Lettuce, Tomato Slice, Mayonnaise Dressing, Ketchup, Slivered Onions, Pickle Slices.

So what's "highly processed food ingredients" the pickles, non-organic vegetables, Ketchup, mayo or the bread? Oh I get it, the processed cheese on the Big Mac! It should be real cheese.

Ya, humorless humor. People in CA that have never seen a hamburger.  ;D

Fur is one of the warmest materials on the planet. I know it's horrible. Some friends own a fur store and they are going out of business, because of the attitude that we should not wear furs. That's why I pointed out that in the rest of the world, it's perfectly fine and people survive because of it. Thinsulate or down, still doesn't cut the chill like a fur. If I didn't have to worry about activists and red paint, I'd have a fur coat. It's up to 11 degrees here today.

I don't care what other people eat or wear and pretty much don't care what they do, as long as they leave me alone and let me do the same. I'm tired of having vegetarians lecture me because I'm eating a pizza with sausage and pepperoni on it. I don't want people pounding on my door on Saturday morning handing out pamphlets about their religion either. That's what some of the food fanatics have become, a cult of people who want everyone else to believe as they do. How would they like it if we ran around shoving steak tartar in their faces, telling them how great it was, especially with the raw eggs, the way it used to be made.  :o

No I don't mind anyone hunting, I don't. Fur is warm and natural. I don't care if people want to kill themselves on a low carb diet, or whatever fad is "in" next year. Vegetarians have the right idea, most are physically fit and very healthy. Vegetables and the other things you eat, are low fat and healthful.

BUT.. I still can't accept processed cheese on a hamburger!  :D

Poutine sounds good. (never heard of it, but I will try it the next time I get near some) French fries topped with fresh cheese curds, covered with brown gravy. Canadian comfort food, especially in Quebec. I'm ready, sounds yummy!

Ok, I did live in CA for 25 years and have been accused of being a hippy. Have no strict diet limitations but do try to eat healthy. By highly processed I mean a lot of preservatives are used in the hamburger ingredients. Have you read "Fast Food Nation"? A real eye opener.

I work in advertising and think this is a very clever campaign, but introducing this foreign food to these people reminds me of missionaries pushing a religion. ;)

The thing that really gets me is: Most of these fast food giants add chemicals to the meat to make it taste like meat  :o

Thats how far away from 100% pure beef "parts" it actually is. To each his own though.

I love the scene at the end of the movie "Supersize me" where they take an order of fries and wait to see how long it takes to decompose. Don't remember exactly how long it took but I think it was like 6 weeks before they didn't look like fresh fries anymore. Scary!! :)

I know what Durian is, but there's no risk of me taking it into my hotel room!

While there is no question that McDonalds and BK are both unhealthy, I think the more concerning issue is the number of food additives used, rather than the fat content. If you've ever seen how people eat in many of the places that don't have McDonalds, you wouldn't be concerned about the risk of unhealthy eating habits being introduced.

While we see McDonalds as being a cheap fast food, there are plenty of places where its actually a luxury restaurant - a bit like going and eating at an Italian place.

Three in a row, is that like hitting the jackpot on a slot?

1) Being in advertising you should understand that they are introducing anything to these people, it's an advertising gimmick.

2) "Supersize me" being used as an accurate or authoritative, unbiased source, is a bogger joke that the fraud that it was. When you see a weight loss ad and they have a pregnant woman, or pay someone to eat and not excercise, then show them half a year later, slim and trim, do you believe it? Well consider that "Supersize me" had an agenda going in and was full of outright fabrications and misrepresentations.

3)  If you've ever seen how people eat in many of the places that don't have McDonalds, you wouldn't be concerned about the risk of unhealthy eating habits being introduced. So true. People eating from dumps and garbage can, but the do-gooders are worried that someone is eating processed meat.

Sorry but this part I have to disagree, "no question that McDonalds and BK are both unhealthy" First off neither is unhealthy. Ray Crock is dead, McDonald's or Burger King have no health, they are restaurants. If you are talking about the food, keep in mind that drinking too much water can kill your. It's not the fact that people eat meat, which is processed to make it safer to eat and cleaner, but how much they eat and how they don't eat properly, don't have a balanced diet and don't exercise.

Of course if someone pounds burgers and fries and nothing else, they are going to suffer and blow up like the Goodyear blimp. We didn't need a movie to tell us that.

What next, will the food police come and check your buyers card at the grocery store and see you are overweight and have a heart condition, so you can't buy a steak, the chocolate chip cookies or a box of ice cream? That's what the people who are over the limit are doing with claims that food is unhealthful, because they don't like it. McDonald's and Burger King and the chains, probably have more review and safety concerns than you corner grocery store which is supposed to be watched by the FDA. The chains have self supervision, because if one person gets sick, there's an outcry. You grocery store, repackages meats, doesn't watch temperatures like the chains do and can have all kinds of heath risks in the back room. But some people just want to hammer on large chain restaurants. There's too much hate in the world.

Hey, remember when they still had sawdust on the floor at the butchers shop? We managed to make it this far. Fish markets, that's scary to think of food sitting outside with a little ice tossed on it. How many places will sell you a burger which is filled with something other than beef or meat. But that's OK, McDonalds uses 100% beef and there's some sinister plot.

More large numbers of people have been sick from eating tainted bean sprouts, tomatoes, peanut products and chili peppers in the last year, than 100% beef, properly cooked. (skip idiots like me who still eat raw beef and onions) How's that for ironic? Vegetables and legumes are causing mass sickness, not meat products.

Please, enjoy the video for what it is. Funny observations about people who have never seen a burger before. Not some plot to sell poison to children in third world countries. (don't get me started on how many people are dying because of Rachel Carson and DDT being banned based on fear alone)

We'd all look pretty funny eating dog, rats or bats in some countries, maybe a bit queasy with some of the entrails that are perfectly common in other places, blood soup anyone, head cheese, even the much revered Haggis.  ;D  And you want to pick, pick, pick, at a 100% Beef patty of meat, fully cooked?

I'm still against processed cheese.  ;)

Just curious why you think "supersize me" and the like are such a fraud, I mean, who has the bigger agenda here. Hmmm..I wonder who stands to lose more. I think its pretty gutsy to take on these corporations to start with.

If I was mr. CEO for (insert fast food chain here) I would do everything and anything to discredit information like that.

There are also a lot of giant corporations that make a few bucks off people being sick, so I wouldn't count on anyone bailing people out at the checkout stand.

And everything on the Art Bell show is true, because there's a world conspiracy to hid the truth.

I hope that answered your question.  ;D

The usual defense for any crackpot or quack idea, is someone in power is trying to suppress the "truth".

Hey, I give. I liked the video, it was funny. It wasn't about meat or the fur coats that most of the native population was wearing in the cold climates.

A little voice in my head is saying Klaatu barada nikto (or maybe an alien being is speaking to me through telepathy) I can't be sure?  ;)  But as I wrote before, everyone makes their own choices. I have enough to be concerned with running my own life, that I can't be constantly worried about what others are doing with theirs.

Tolerance, diversity and acceptance aren't just catch phrases to be used when it's convenient. It's about letting other people be what they want to be when it does me no harm.

People are free to do and believe what ever they want(at least where I come from). Lifestyle is a personal choice and everyone is different.

Lucky for us there are other sources of information out there besides mainstream media. Its much harder to cover up issues these days. Trying to figure out what is "truth" and what are "lies" is the hard part.

I knew we'd agree in the end. Yes, always consider all available sources, their reliability and their motivations. Then make an educated decision based on the best evidence.

I have absolutely no moral qualms about eating meat.  Human teeth clearly reveal we are designed for an omnivorous diet.

However my whole family and I gave up eating beef a few years back when the first "mad cow" was found in North America.   The USDA has been in the pockets of the cattle industry for years and have looked the other way while obviously sick cows have been ground up to be fed to other cows and to people.

Also, the diagnosis of "Alzheimers" cases in the US has skyrocketed in recent years by roughly the same percentages as Creutzfeldt-Jakob (human form of mad cow) has risen in Europe.  Interesting coincidence.

Are we paranoid idiots?  Quite possibly, but I am not prepared to put my faith or my family's health so completely in the hands of the government or the beef industry.  Not when it is so easy to live without beef.  Turkey burgers and turkey chili taste just as good if you know how to prepare them right.

If you think Supersize Me is scary, you should check out Fast Food Nation.
