I do not wish to get into politics, never depend on any goverement for your well being. Yes there is some help not a lot. The few FEMA agents on the ground are workers like you and me and they are trying. The community help from businesses and local people is amazing and humbling to see. Water is liquid gold right now some more homes are getting power in Asheville and surrounding areas but water is the issue. A lot of public buildings rely on city water and can not open incluidng schools. I think that if that condition continues and they are working as fast as they can, that people will be forced to leave the area. Winter is coming and I fear sickness and disease. Just working in the flood waters is awful the smell is awful and who knows what is in that water! It's a long road ahead, some communities will never come back, others will survive.

I hope you and your loved ones stay safe.

Watching the news is horrible.

I do understand if people are disappointed by parties or government. But I live in Europe, for our high taxes we expect proportional help. I know it is different for the US.

Personally I would expect the army to be involved, but I don't quite understand the US help services beyond FEMA.

Floridas home insurer of last resort is in serious trouble.

Insurance companies are fleeing Florida or going bankrupt. There isn't enough money for everyone.  :o

If you see this in the news "State reports 93 verified storm-related deaths in North Carolina" it is a complete LIE!! I have a friend who works EMS in Henderson County and they have over 1k body bags! The numbers are in the thousands if you count all the counties involved. I have no idea why the news is not telling the truth on this.

1. Democrats won't tell the truth because it will hurt their ratings before the elections.
2. It is also a genocide of people in states that support Republicans.
3. In Ukraine, due to the fault of Biden and the Democrats, something similar has been happening for 3 years already. Welcome to Ukraine.

Here in Germany, we read that over 200 people died in the USA as a result of Helene, that over 600 were missing and that - in the medium and long term - thousands of deaths could follow as a result of the effects of hurricanes. This could happen as a result of destroyed medical infrastructure, money being saved for the healthcare system because the money would be needed to repair the damage, people losing their jobs and therefore their health insurance, and so on.

It also states that $75 in emergency aid for food and drink is available for each person affected and that there would be financial support of up to $42,500 for rebuilding or repairing the home.

Oh, sorry, that's right, of course. I forgot the zero - $750 is correct!

Well it's the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services that is reporting the figures. I.e. the State. A Republican State. So by your logic, surely means that... "Republicans won't tell the truth because it will hurt their ratings before the elections"?!

It is probably both parties influencing media to keep the problem down.

This also happens with many other subjects, real journalism seems to be dead.

I now follow people in affected areas or individuals with direct information and this way I often get news faster.

German media is horrible, no critical thinking left.

And individuals with direct information isn't a bad idea if you want the most up to date information. But there's no influencing the media here, and there's no lack of critical thinking. The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services release the figures that the media are reporting on, and the last update was on Friday. While I'm sure there will be people 'on the ground' every day, most 'number crunchers' in governmental organizations are strictly Monday to Friday. That's probably your conspiracy right there... the tradition of working Monday to Friday from 9 to 5... not some government suppression of the truth. There will most likely be another update today, and while it may still not be 100% accurate, it will be closer to reality than 93.

FEMA money is controlled and distributed by Democrats. This has already been written about in this thread. I even quoted Trump's statements.
Trying to blame Republicans when Democrats are in power is a lying manipulation!

Some more interesting facts for you. I have done nothing amazing as it is overwhelming still. Passed out water this weekend in Asheville. People have tanks in thier neighborhood but the older populating is having a hard time carring 5 gallon buckets to flush their toilets with, also those in apartments on the top floor with no elevator. Now on to some interesting facts you may not hear on the news and I would be happy to take anyone around to show them. One of the largest producers of IV fluides factory flooded in NC they have asked the White House to declare a national emergency becaue of that but it has not happened. I hope we don't see IV fluid shortages but that is a possibility. Second Ingels is a grocery chain and one of their distrubuition centers flooded with 8ft of water. They lost over 17 semi trucks worth of food, you can not walk into a grocery store in Asheville and find any fresh produce! There is plent of water available and you do not need to send food as the donations have poured in for that. Blankets, sleeping bags, propane heaters and the like will be needed now. Will be a tough winter for many people.

Nice try, but my post had absolutely nothing to do with FEMA money. The 93 deaths that is being widely reported is based on numbers provided by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. A State-based organization in a Republican State. I've said all that already, so I really don't know why I had to state it again. Is your unshakable love and devotion for Trump, and your seething hate for Biden, causing you trouble comprehending relatively simple sentences?

And on a side note... Trump's statements?! You're seriously using Trump's statements as a reliable news source?! I really don't think there's any hope for you at this point. Next you'll be telling us that FEMA agents are eating people's cats and dogs as recompense for the food and water deliveries because Biden told them to... they're all sacrifices to Satan so that Biden can become powerful enough to destroy the world. Wouldn't surprise me... the majority of your 'facts' sound more proposterous thatn that!

1. Give a link to the North Carolina Department website where you saw the number 93.
2. What difference does it make what state the Department of Health and Human Services is in if its headquarters are in Washington and the organization is controlled by US Democrats?
3. The location of a government organization is of no importance, the people in these organizations are appointed and placed by the bas.tard democrats.

I think the Democrats are afraid to declare a national emergency before the elections, it will also lower their rating. And then they will have to show the real number of dead, starving and dying. And all this will definitely lower the rating of these bas.tards.

@jjneff

Do you have a live reporting feed on twitter, insta or others?

If you take pictures and share and document the relief effort, I am sure many people will love to follow, the same way I follow indivduals documenting the disasters in their areas.

I think it really helps and it can put pressure on offical media outlets to just get on with reporting because people can already see live what is happening and then wonder why it is not being reported.

Also can help with pressuring politics if enough people write to them quoting 20 daily life news sources.

I am so sorry that this is happening to your family and friends.

Between work and taking care of home I just don't have a ton of time. You might see on the news that militia are threatening FEMA, this is not true! this is what is really happening. https://youtu.be/BJJ35IFkbpg?si=0L6mfGiE_HJpUggJ   You have to understand the people of the mountains in order to help them. You need to be respectful and ask for help from them to distribute supplies then say for your help please take what you want. They are not full of pride they just to not want to take any help incase someone else might need it more.

"What to know

At least 215 people are known to have died as a result of the destruction wrought by Hurricane Helene since it made landfall in Florida a week ago.

More than half of the deaths were in North Carolina, (95) where several feet of fast-moving water destroyed entire communities.

Hundreds are still missing, and officials have reported difficulties in identifying some of the dead."

WBTV
There have been a total of 95 confirmed deaths from Hurricane Helene as of Monday, Oct. 14, according to the NCDHHS.

The largest number of deaths coming from Buncombe County one of the hardest hit counties in western North Carolina.

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services stated the following:

We are aware there are additional reports of decedents, and our team is working to verify that these are storm related deaths. Life-saving activities will always take priority, and we will continue to work to update this information as appropriately as possible.

If this is true, it is simply sad that the affected citizens of a state are caught up in the mills of power because of an election campaign instead of receiving the help that is urgently needed.

We urgently need neutral regulatory bodies all over the world to combat misinformation and fake news! Otherwise, instability will continue to grow in all countries.

Something has gotten out of hand globally. There have always been wars. But the danger of a global conflagration has never been so great. Ukraine/Russia, Israel/Gaza/Lebanon/Iran, North Korea/South/Korea, China/Taiwan, and many more powder kegs everywhere...

And the global catastrophes caused by freak weather will also increase.

If aid organizations are already in danger, where will it end?
