My father was a singer for his entire life, and made a huge mark in rock music.  Cancer took him last year, but I wonder what his take on this song would be?  If you do a web search on me, you can probably figure out who my father is, lol.   :D

You dad is RONNIE JAMES DIO??? Cool!!!

sounds like Hannah Montana..now the typical American teenagers song just like that..I see it on the TV ::)

We will all miss your dad. It was a sad day for the music world when he passed. I grew up on Dio!

Touching eulogy Dan, but my daughter walked in at the beginning and she is horribly worried about the hole in your heart. Cancer sucks.

(And you are better looking than Bruce Willis!).

Pretty sad. 95,138 likes, 797,137 dislikes. To me this song is really no different than the other gazillion template teen songs. Unfortunately the millions of mindless sheeple have decided to follow each other in thinking it's cool to trash this song. I feel sorry for this girl. We'll be reading pretty soon how she OD'd at 15. Hope you're all proud of yourselves.

Sad thing is that the girl originally didn't realize she was the butt of so many jokes.  She thought she was getting so many hits because it was great.  Good Morning America shared some viewer comments with her I heard and she cried...One of the winning comments..."I hope she gets an eating disorder so she becomes pretty."

Tough for a 13 year old to take I would imagine but it's good to see she's making big $$ on her Dad's $2,000 investment.

I saw that too Mat.  I honestly felt really bad for her.  It is a terrible, terrible song.  Obviously this falls on her parents and her agent, both of which should be fired for getting her to sing something like this.  I don't think a 12/13 yr old girl is in a position to make that judgement call.  She's been exploited, and it is really sad that so many people are laughing at her.  I wish people would consider her age, and consider how they would feel if everyone were laughing at their daughter.

That said, she is making a killing.  And that too is truly sad.

Yeah I am starting to feel bad as well.  It is such as perfectly horribly song I was sure it was a very well designed parody, but that certainly doesn't look to be the case.  I am glad she is (hopefully she is and not only the agent is) making some $$ from the whole deal... even if it is a bad song and if it is popular for bad or good reasons I glad she'll see something for her 'expense'

Thanks everyone, it always makes me happy to know that so many people enjoyed his music   :)

Some 4 years old can have talent in fact. Check out this little girl (nevermind she's speaking Klingonian for some):

OMG!  Your dad was a rock legend!  How cool. You are such a humble guy I never would have guessed :)

Sorry for your loss...

Dude, are you serious? Ronnie James Dio? If you're serious, very sorry for the loss of your dad. The guy was a legend.

Yes Paulie, I'm serious  :)   That's me in the Youtube eulogy videos which have been plastered in various locations.  It's funny - I told my wife as soon as I finished that speech that "this will be on Youtube by tomorrow morning."  It was on Youtube with an hour.  Things sure move fast on the net.

I agree.  It is a bad song, but honestly I think it is better than most of the Miley Cyrus songs I hear when my daughter is watching Hannah Montana, or that drivel that was in Camp Rock.  This isn't exactly a ringing endorsement for Friday.  But there are worse songs out there...quite unfortunately.  I just hope people leave her alone.  She has talent, she can definitely sing for a 12/13 year old.  She may be a legitimate star someday, rather than the punchline of a joke.

My condolences as well. It's not easy to lose a family member famous or not. As a card carrying member of the "long hair and black t-shirts" club back in the day, I can tell you he will be missed.

Losing a much-loved parent is such a terrible thing - but I hope it is some comfort that so many rock fans valued and respected your father, even though they didn't know him as you did.

I remember the lovely notes and cards we received from my Dad's colleagues when he passed away.  So moving.  All from people we'd never heard of and didn't know.  I expect you experienced something similar but on a FAR larger scale than most of us could ever imagine.  You won't have any trouble keeping his memory alive, for sure ;)

A quote that has always helped me at times of grief is:  "What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly"  - Illusions, Richard Bach.

Just passing it along in case it's useful.

Now that it's Monday, maybe she could hook up with these Gals to get out of Monotone Singing. David Sides on keys and is an amazing Pianist and does covers of different songs like, Party like a Rock Star by Shp Boyz, In the End by Linkin Park and Far Away by Nickleback.

Leona Lewis - My Hands - David Sides & ILLumeci
Some sites say they give you a crown but in reality, it is just a polished toilet seat.
