Post by: madelaide on November 09, 2009, 16:19
Maybe you guys in th USA have heard of this young girl Jessica Cox, who was born without arms but manages to live an almost common life.  She can write, drive and even put he contact lenses using her feet, and the became the first pilot without arms!

It's amazing how some people have this huge interior strength to support life's adversities in such a positive way.  God bless her!

Thanks Madelaide, Usually havin no arms is a significant enough of a medical condition to keep you from flying. That's great.

Maybe Leaf remembers this guy, I grew up watching Alvin Law on an anual telethon, he also has no arms and is pretty amazing too and has helped raise over $150,000,000 for charity.  I notice he and Jessica Cox are both now motivational speakers.

As along time pilot and flight instructor I can only marvel at what Jessica Cox has accomplished as a pilot. She brings to mind the old saying-"where there is a will there is a way"

Ha - you got it!  Alvin Law was on TM every year when I was growing up.  We had Farmer Vision  ... 2 channels, that's what the young people (cough) call those poor folks who don't have Bell Expressview.... TeleMiracle was the only thing on tv for a whole weekend every year.  Alvin Law would be on and be amazing, playing drums with his feet and other incredible tricks.

P.S. just got back from a funeral in Sask tonight.  It's a balmy +7 on the prairies.  NO SNOW (yet) YAHOO!!!!!  Dozens of combines out - in November, can you believe it?
