Because it's 25F here or -4 where some of you are, and overcast - The best time to view this year's Leonids shower will be an hour or two before dawn on Monday, November 17.

It's forecast to clear up later, so what am I wasting? Electrons. Camera is outside running until I wake up and turn it off in the morning. 12V power system. It's been a long project and getting better all the time.

You can start viewing after Midnight and as the Earth turns into the debris, it improves.

So far I don't see frost on the lens. No heater but I have the fan running that I mounted on a tripod for Humidity during the Summer. 16% relative humidity it's not a problem. Frost might be?

Oh well only 45F here going to around 70 then tomorrow look out cause the high will be 30 degrees cooler than today and we may hit 39F they say!

Yep that means a cold front with excess temps on each side so that means what?

Yep you got it rain and T- storms followed by extreme cold air and maybe a little winter precip on the back side.

So no meteors to be seen around here anytime soon!

I thought I was seeing lots of meteors but they turned out to be snowflakes - drat. We ended up with two inches and it's supposed to be 12 F tonight - no fun. Glad I'm going to Florida later this week...

Hope you got some nice images and everyone else is somewhere nice.

Earth Sky News, sends an email pretty much every day, highlighting what's going on in the sky. If you sign up.

As for Meteorite Showers. They are the same cycle every year. Leonids is one of the big four (my term not anyone else's) Perseids is the best one, in theory mid-August. Geminids is supposed to be active but December? I think not.

The rest rate 20 per hour and better ones up to 30, average. The four in bold are usually more active.

Back Yard, the streak is just an airplane. In the full size I think I see a satellite passing too. Didn't check one by one for any meteorites (yet) Started overcast, so I let it run.

Was out on Saturday night for aurora photos. Saw a few big meteors. Not sure if they were part of this shower or not. Pretty cool either way.

Really cool actually, -15C. Normally that isn't bad but when you are standing around not doing much it chills you pretty well.

Just went through the 1130 photos, one by one. I thought I might have seen one little streak that wasn't an airplane or satellite. Oh well, keep trying. One of these nights, I'm going to get a good one.

Still have a plan for putting a camera on the shore of Lake Michigan, no light pollution. I have finally worked out the 12V power for the fan and the camera. One step closer.

Perseids would be nice.

Yes I saw a big blue streak driving home late last Wed. night.

Didn't bother uploading it would get rejected for lighting or noise or something.

I'm not sure that real astronomy is a good subject for Microstock? People can draw fakes that look better.
