It is a fantastic book but I can't imagine that the film will be able to do it justice.

Yeahhhh, movies never are as good as the book. Nevertheless it will be very interesting :-)

Bought this book in a market in India when travelling around there about 7 years ago. Don't know what made me choose this one, as I had never heard of it. But wow, I LOVED this book! Told heaps of my friends and got them into it as well.

I agree movies are (usually) never as good as the book, but I am keen to see this one regardless. Will bring back many great memories!

Trust me __ read the book before you see the film. I'd certainly place Life of Pi in the top 5 non-fiction books I've ever read. I'm actually a little disappointed that they've made a film about it. If you read the book you'll understand why. It's quite a short book too __ not 'War and Peace' or anything like it. It changed my views on zoos, zoo animals and animal behaviour entirely for starters. Things aren't always as they seem to the casual observer.

I have to agree. loved the book. very little interest in seeing the movie. some things are better left to the imagination. CGI will ruin it.

Great book - I bought it in Namche Bazaar when I was stuck there last year because it was the only second-hand book that wasn't about mountaineering or new age nonsense. Killed a couple of days very nicely.

Gave it to my 11 year old daughter and she loves it too, though there were tears when Richard Parker abandons him. I'd never of thought they could make a movie of it, but the trailers look like they've done a wonderful job. We'll definitely be going to see it!
