Dear Russian friends, I know there is a significant stock photographers community, so I have an appeal to you.

Please do not believe in your Russian media propaganda saying that terrible war is some kind of "special action". It is regular war against Ukrainian civils. Putin is cannon firing kindergartens, hospitals and civilian areas. Your Russian dictator is not better that Hitler or Kim Jong-un. He started the worst kind of war in the middle of Europe so no one can feel safe now.

I am asking you to inform and spread the true information wherever you can in your country. Putin already cut you off from most foreign media, so all ways to reach you are good.

Thanks!

BTW, I am not Ukrainian, but I have so much sympathy to their people that I had to post it, hope it won't be removed. If is reaches even one unaware Russian, my message makes sense. The only way to bring peace back to Europe is to make Russian aware and ready to avert from their ruler.

I know there is some forum which is very popular among thousands of Russian contributors. Maybe someone who knows Russian language would post there ?

To support Ukraine and the international community the stock agencies should stop all contributions from Russia and freeze their accounts.  Hate to punish people who didn't start and probably don't support the war but as long as Russia's war of aggression is killing innocent civilians there should be no business from contributors in that country.

Russians who prostrate are arrested. Prison sentences are going to get tougher. Saw a woman being locked up today with two crying children because she laid flowers at the Ukrainian embassy in Russia.
I think our stock agencies should give their opinion about this war on their website. That helps more I think, although it will bring us and them less sales.

Russian people are now trapped in their country, no more travel to Europe or America. Russia was in no danger at all, they have too many nuclear weapons for any country to attack them, it would simply be suicidal !! Putin just gave the proof, that every countries on their border, are right to incorporate NATO, you just can't trust a dictator !!!

More than 70% of Russians are approving Putin's actions.
His approval rate went up during the war preparations and now and I'm reading that it went further up after the invasion!
 :o

So I'm afraid that this sensitive appeal made by BelieveInStock doesn't mean too much, under these circumstances.
It will be seen as "fake news" and "western propaganda" by a large majority.

Although I expect that some who approved Putin's invasion, may be afraid to speak up, especially now, when they crackdown on dissent harder than before.

Statistic: Do you approve of the activities of Vladimir Putin as the president (prime minister) of Russia? | Statista" style="width: 100%; height: auto !important; max-width:500px;-ms-interpolation-mode: bicubic;

Let's hope for them they don't go back to do line-ups to buy bread, like it was during communism...

Russians lost their freedom. Now the only place they can go is China, and it might stay that way for a very very long time....

Even Switzerland is taking position against them, a country that was always neutral in every conflict since 1815.

assuming that poll is even legitimate, it's not surprising, given the state control of information. (eg, NYTimes reports of soldiers who thought they were just going on a routine exercise. )  many Chinese think Tiananmen square was a hoax, and even with the free press in the US many people hold absurd ideas (such as Biden didn't win the election); altho in the latter case, it's not suppression but self-selecting a extremely biased source.

Another powerful message from the chess world champion Garry Kasparov, a true Russian patriot:

Putin's war on Ukraine has entered its next phase, one of destruction and slaughter of civilians. It is also a part of Putin's World War, a war on the civilized world of international law, democracy, and any threat to his power, which he declared long ago.

The free world's denial of this war and decades of appeasement allowed Putin to threaten and conquer abroad while turning Russia into a police state. The price to stop him has gone up every time he has advanced unchallenged. Ukrainians are paying that price in blood.

If Putin is not stopped now, not prevented from destroying Ukraine and committing genocide against its people, there will be a next time and it will be in NATO, with an unprecedented nuclear threat. Do not let Putin escalate again in a time and place of his choosing.
Everyone is quoting my 2015 book Winter Is Coming and saying I was right & "listen to Kasparov". But will you still listen when I say this will take sacrifice and risk? Not just wheat and gas prices, not just empty chalets and unemployed lobbyists. Easy is over.

Or will you say that I am irrational, blinded by hate, as I heard in 2015? I hope not. Putin must be stopped because the unthinkable is now the possible. The world has awoken, at long last, and many steps I recommended last week are happening. It's not enough.

My recommendations:

1. I cannot demand NATO attack Russian forces directly, but I can speak from history & knowledge of Putin. A dictator who has already crossed every line cannot be prevented from escalating with restraint. If he destroys Ukraine, he won't stop.

2. We are not trying to appeal to the murderer in his bunker in the Urals. The message is to those who carry out his orders. Will they? Do they all wish to die? Putin will escalate anyway if he is not stopped now. He will, as he always has before, & the price will be higher.

3. Send Russia to the technological stone age. No support, no parts, no services. Oil boycotts aren't necessary if oil tech is unavailable. The industry will grind to a halt. This means a war footing in sacrificing, retooling & increasing production to substitute. It's war.

4. It's always tragic that ordinary people suffer, but they are not being bombed in their homes like Ukrainians. Every element of Russian society that can pressure Putin must know they have to choose between him & everything else. Some will cling to him, but for how long?

5. Clear message to Russian generals that they will suffer annihilation if one inch of NATO is touched. Send UKR every weapon, including the jets that have been blocked, as if Putin cares about the difference. Stop guessing about his thoughts and do what is needed.

6. Every day Ukraine endures gives opportunity to communicate this catastrophe to the only people who can really stop Putin, the Russian people, from oligarchs to commanders to protestors. Let all in the power vertical know they will be treated as war criminals. They are.

7. Leave nothing in reserve. Speed is of the essence to stop payments and catch them and their assets before they hide. Threats like "he doesn't know what's coming" don't work if Putin doesn't believe you. Show him. And show Russians there is no way back with Putin. Never.

8. Root out the corrupt politicians, businessmen & dark money that corrupted a generation to turn a blind eye or serve authoritarian regimes. Follow the donations, payments, gifts, influence. Hold them accountable. Down with Putin & his appeasers, glory to Ukraine.

Dear users, do not believe this person and the lies he is spreading on this forum. He makes no sense, he has no proof, he is biased. The West is spreading lies, the same lies when they showing us pictures of dead bodies when coronavirus strike. Nobody is innocent in war. It's always two sides. But in this case, we can all see that West has gone too far.

I am sorry. What the whole world is watching ,not only the west, is a nuclear superpower bombing civilians and destroying to the ground cities. As we have seen in UN, the only supporting countries to Russia are: North Korea,Syria,Eritrea and Belarus. Doesn't that tell you something. Russia is alone on their genocidal war. It will take more than a decade for Russia to recover.

I am sorry for their population, as they are the ones that are going to pay the higher price. But the world will not leave this inhuman action unpunished. Putin is already a walking dead corpse.

Please do not confuse any population in the world with their politicians. Please, first before lecturing any citizen from any country, do not believe in your own country's media propaganda. I have much sympathy for both ukrainians and russians, yet I don't think my little person & my personal opinions/feelings/believes/thoughts can have any influence on geopolitical events, as terrible as they can be, but unfortunately that's how we are educated and accustomed to think in most of western countries. And Putin is not Hitler.

You dont have to listen to Western Propaganda. Just listen to Putin. He doesnt believe Ukraine should exist, so what choice does he leave them? They cant stand up to Russia alone. Why do you think these countries would want to join NATO in the first place? Why is Finland rushing to join now?

When I read something like this, it really makes me sick.
There are no arguments for war. Period. No discussion. >:(

Not that I agree with Putin, on the contrary, but if you mean what you say, then you certainly must agree that sending military weapons by the EU countries and the US into Ukraine will not solve this issue but make it only worse. And I assume that you also condemn the Ukranian government for waging war against ethnic russians in the eastern part of the country for the last 8 years and also not respecting the Minsk agreements. Right?

Interesting what you interpret into one sentence.
I only said that there are no arguments for a war (any war) - or more precisely, for a barbaric war of aggression. There ends my tolerance and also my need for discussion.

Well, a balanced video published in Feb 18 2022 -  before an autocratic superpower attack a sovereign nation, killing its children, destroying its infrastructure, forcing 1,000,000+ (and counting) citizens to become refugees, in an attempt to topple a democratic elected government to impose their will.

Eventually, through the Democratic Process and the prosperity it brings, these extremist elements would fade away into a tiny picturesque minority amidst a wide range of political views as it's the case in every other Democracy.

With Putin's invasion, this won't happen in Ukraine. Extremism, Nationalism and the resort to violence to resolve differences will loom over Europe and the World for years to come... we need to act NOW!

A bully understands only one language - it is unfortunate, but this is the human nature - we need to crush him in any way possible before he drags us down to a dystopian future (and we are long overdue at that).

This is not the time to stay impartial.

Yesterday evening the Russians bombed a neighborhood in Chernihiv which left 33 civilians dead. But according to you 'nobody is innocent'. I suggest you take off your Kremlin-colored glasses and start to OBJECTIVELY observe what is happening here. Innocent civilians are being killed who had no part to play in this conflict.
I'm not saying the Western governments are all nice and righteous, including the Ukrainian government. EVERY government has blood on their hands, but that doesn't make Putin's current aggressiveness against the Ukrainian people any less evil.

But I guess trying to convince someone who doesn't even believe people have died of covid, is like trying to convince Putin to back off. It's useless.
