Paula seems upset in the little cage she is sharing with her brother Antnio, who is recovering from a wound in his foot.

The yellow one is just adorable. Have never seen a yellow one before. Have seen peach color, never yellow.

I also watched Curious Eduardo on YT - just precious  :)

The bird would look better if Long John Silver was in the video also. IMO

Stormchaser,

These are more light green than yellow.  The dark green ones are indeed more common.  Eduardo was a lutino, a type of albino condition, but not so rare as we had 3 lutinos out of 19 chicks born from this couple.  You can see more of them here:
<a href="http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=qwoHwefnA2o" target="_blank" class="aeva_link bbc_link new_win">http://br.youtube.com/watch?v=qwoHwefnA2o</a>

Dimas and Edwiges are the lutinos in this video.  Eduardo was sent to my nephew, but he died one week later, apparently due to the stress of the trip.  :(

Vonkara,

I don't have their photos in micros.  Most of them were shot in ISO200, as I didn't want to disturb them with strong light.  I plan to have some of them as posters - I think they would do well for childrens room decoration.

I've always loved lovebirds.  They are sweet birds!

Gotta show my grey....  This is "Look out for the Cat".

Jill, I didn't know this kind of parrot.  Unfortunately lovebirds can't speak.  :D

Lovebirds are very sweet little birds.  The ones I handle at our local store are very gentle.  They are babies or young birds used to being handled.

Greys are very good talkers.

Jill,

If you take the lovebirds chicks from their parents at a very early stage, and then feed them, they become "domesticated".  You still have to cut some wing feathers though, otherwise they may fly.

A friend of mine who took two of ours cut their wing feathers and they now walk and make only a few jumps, enough to play on her garden when she releases them once a week.  This was more a preventive measure, as she has a 8-y.o. daughter who might eventually pick them in the cage and accidently let them loose.

I thought of cutting wing feathers of one or two of ours and keep them outside, but I find it a bit unfair with them, although they grow again. I prefer to set them free in a room once in a while, where they can fly free for some minutes, then when they get tired I catch them and put them back in their cage, which is big enough to allow them flap their wings a bit.

Regards,
Adelaide

OMG that carrot leaves video is hysterical because of the music. Good choice!

Sorry to hear about little Eduardo. So sad.

Stromchaser,

He was the sweetest thing and a couple of times he slept on my hand when he was still young.  After he left, I took Luciano as my favourite.

It's hard not to get attached to them, and it hurts a bit to see them leave.  We only give them in pairs, so they hve company.

Adelaide

I find the lovebirds to be very social, and I think one of the distinctions of this variety is if they are single, they feel out of place. I would never take a single, only a pair.

My brother has a very noisy Quaker parrot, and he is a bird that is very cage aggressive. My brother tried to introduce another bird, ad Elvis, the cage inhabitant, would have none of it  :) He is a fun bird though, knows a lot of dirty words ha ha. He likes homemade breakfast waffles and will will become very noisy if they are made. Silly thing will want a seat at the breakfast table if they are made, then he has his snack and is off for a long nap. He is really the strangest little bird ever.

I was watching one of your clips, and I heard a voice from the other room, "I can hear them birds having a go, but I cannot see them in the garden!"

LOL ;D

They are very noisy.  When I get one of them in my hands, I often show them videos, and they get a bit wild hearing others, or even themselves.
