Well, it's finally done ... mostly. I'd love to get some feedback on my new personal/business site. So, if anyone else is just sitting around tonight, alone, staring at the computer, and tired of checking stats... like me :-[
Come on by and have a look. Harsh criticism and high praise equally appreciated.

Thanks.

I like it. I would change a few things, though. The navigation menu at the bottom of  the contents.html page would look nicer with actual buttons rather than just text like "<Portraiture>". I'd also try for more uniformity in format/ style between pages. The Stock Video page doesn't look as professional as the other pages, mainly do to the use of simplistic tables. And finally, the text on the sports page is a little to light gray making it harder to read, I'd darken it.

Besides those few small critiques, I like the overall feel. Good job.

Thanks for the suggestions. I really appreciate it!

I have to agree there. I'm ashamed to say the nav menu was a bit of an afterthought. I"m not a great web designer, can you tell? Buttons I can do, but do you think all pages should be updated, or just the contents page (which definitely needs something)?

I'd also try for more uniformity in format/ style between pages. The Stock Video page doesn't look as professional as the other pages, mainly do to the use of simplistic tables.

Again, I have to agree. There is a lot that will be going on that page eventually, but the different color scheme is a bit drastic, huh? I guess getting the video up (and working) was enough for me for now. Ill see if I can make it more uniform, and new content will fill it out a bit, but I was/am afraid that too much clutter will distract from the clips. Do you think having the video open in a new window would be too annoying?

And finally, the text on the sports page is a little to light gray making it harder to read, I'd darken it.

Agreed, and that's an easy fix!

Besides those few small critiques, I like the overall feel. Good job.

Thanks again, I really needed to get some eyes on it other than my own and my family's. I really, really appreciate it.

Are you exclusive at IStockphoto? If not, then post your photos on FeaturePics and link to them there. IStock commission is way, way beneath the 70% that Feature Pics pays.

If you are exclusive with Istock, then my condolences

lol, not exclusive. I had to choose something, so I decided to rotate sites as I update. I only just signed up with FeaturePics and haven't gotten around to requesting FTP access. Once I do that I'll start uploading there. Thanks!

HI I just saw your post. One of the things I do in my job is rebranding and websites. I think your site looks good but I wouldn revisit the fonts as I am not sure it works with the overall design of the site. Perhaps try a more contemporary one and I notice there are different fonts on different pages.

Hi,

I like the site, especially the splash / front page.

But...

i didn't like the womans head on right of the portraiture page, sort of disembodied, didn't really fit with the rest of the page.

the sports page looks a little cluttered I think because of alignment of text / boxs / pics.  title needs centring, the two top banners are wider the columns underneath.  the text down the middle I think needs a little bit wider margins. put your email along the bottom. I'd try putting your lhs text boxes along the bottom and then pics down both sides (might not work, maybe you already did).

(oops, I'm nitpicking sorry, I just felt this page sort let the rest of the site down, and I'm not trying to critisice coz I like you site and I have procrastinated about doing it for 6-12 months)

I agree that the floating head shot isn't one of my best. Unfortunately, I have had a shortage of female models! I don't wan't it to look like I only shoot men, so for now it will have to stay. I'll hopefully be able to update the page soon with more diverse photos.

It is a bit cluttered, I guess, and kinda slow loading. I'll have to try a few different arrangements to see what works best. I do, however, feel that the gallery links need to stay near the top so visitors can find them quickly without having to scroll down.  Most of the visitors who need those links probably won't be interested in the rest of the site.

Nitpicking is great! It's the little things that are hardest for me to find on my own. I really appreciate the help!

Personally I hate splashpages, it wastes users time and if the user has a slow connection they are likely leave straight away. If you install google analytics you will see the bounce rate for the splash page  ....

Sure! I've been meaning to get back to the falls, or maybe south park and the gardens. We will probably want to wait for the snow to start menlting for those spots though. Then again, goat island in winter can be really cool. Any other ideas?

Correct. I just checked now and all I saw was the splash page... nothing more, not even an enter button.
