I just found that the news is at the bottom of the list of posts.  Maybe it needs its own page (ie. forum, interviews, reviews, links, NEWS).

or maybe put headlines (do they come with headlines) in a box below the stock links on the right (but above useful tools)

yeah, good ideas.  I think they should be somewhere more accessable.  I rarely care to scroll all the way to the bottom to check the news.
