Post by: tab62 on August 15, 2013, 15:40
Okay, dumb question to ask you all. If you don't have any followers on Shutter does it me the following:

1. I truly Suck
2. NA
3. Who really Cares

Add more to the list...

That's one of the stats I don't really care about.  I don't have any followers.  I'm sure it was put in place so buyers could bookmark their favorite ports but there's absolutely no way to tell on our end if any of the sales come from buyers who've bookmarked a port.

Hard to say. I have followers, but who knows why? Could be buyers (though it doesn't seem to have increased my sales), could be fellow illustrators. I think it's more likely the latter, because if the followers were buyers you'd think my new files would be selling.

I only think buyers who are logged in can follow you, though I could be wrong.

I did a test: I have tried to follow you from your portfolio page.
The site proposed me to access from the buyer login (same username/password as contributor).
I did it (I am following you! ;) )
So not only buyers can follow, but contributors logged in the buyer part of the site (and in this case contributors are considered as buyers)

To answer to the OP, I don't know what can give to the contributors, in term of earning/download the fact to be followed or not.
Probably it is just a way for buyers to bookmark some contributors they like more, nothing else.
