Title: Odd Sales
Post by: dbvirago on November 21, 2006, 08:42
I have an image, below, that I thought would do ok and it has. Sold several copies but nowhere near the top of the list. In the last 12 hours, it has sold 3 times on 3 different agencies. Coincidence?

I would bet that it is the same designer. Each company potentially processes the images in different ways, so to download the same image from different sites would make lots of sense.
Nice image by the way.

  ????? why ?????

I like the image but there is something a bit harsh about it.  The lines aren't going in the right direction or something?

I liked it when I shot it, but it was a one shot take it now with the P&S or never see it again kind of deal.

could you explain a bit more?  Why not just use the same image you paid once for?  Why different sites?  Thanks -- I'm always looking to learn a bit more about how designers might use an image.

This sort of thing has happened to me many times. Obsscure images of mine that are rarely downloaded are all of a sudden being downloaded on 3 or more different sites on the same day. I agree with the person who thinks it's the same designer downloading the same image on different sites. I've always wondered why, but it happens every so often and it's a mystery to me. :-\

as best as i can figure, the sites have their own ways of upsizing and sharpening images which is why they ask us not to. at different sites the sizes offered, are sometimes different and if you look close at your thumbnails, there are differences in them as well. sometimes the color is different, sometimes the sharpness.
I too have had the mystery download phenomena happen and that is the only logical thing that comes to mind.

Whatever. It was a buck-fifty instead of .25. I'll take it as it comes.

sometimes i think the designers feel bad for us  and do double downloads at the same site to give us a litte more money, that one is very common for me also.
