If you are in a crowded room and you accidentally "let one go", does it do any good to deep breath and try to catch it all yourself?  Does the act of breathing it in then expelling it lessen the impact at all?

Lol, no I wouldn't think so. When you let one go it spreads out, and doesn't just rise in a coloumn. Even if it did you'd have to take an extremely deep breath to help the very least.
I think you'd be better of moving around a bit to create circulation so it gets "diluted" faster and smells less.
I usually just say I let one go, bad stomach, sorry bout that, and thats that problem solved.
Don't eat too many beans :P

That was a wierd question...

No, what counts is the density and breathing it will have a minor impact to it. Our noise is a dam good chemical laboratory and can peek very tiny amount of particles in the air. The best bet is to say sorry :D

Thanks.

I'm a "gassy" person and I take medicine to curb it, but it hadn't kicked in yet when I got to work this morning.  And I just started this job, so I don't know anyone... ;)

Depends if its an SBD (silent but deadly) - if so, hold your nose, wave your hand, make a face and walk away like someone else did it. They'll all feel guilty like your blaming them.

If it's a "blat"  - Busted! apologize. The honeymoon's over.

I think that scientists will finally learn the answer to that long-asked question when they start up the Large Hadron Super Collider in Geneva, Switzerland sometime in September. The LHSC will accelerate White Castle hamburgers up to 99.999999% of the speed of light, producing farts equivalent to those which were present at the Big Bang. Unfortunately, the LHSC will also produce microscopic black holes which will grow exponentially and, sometime around Groundhog Day, 2009, devour the Earth.

You have done a very good thing. You have introduced yourself to the whole floor as "the new farter guy".

Normally, in a new job, you can sit there for months totally unknown to everyone. Now you have a name and reputation.

Do not worry about having to filter the stench ... you have let people deep into your inner most um ... stuff.

and then I wrote other stuff but deleted it ...
