Yeah cool. 20% off all the same photos that you can get everywhere else, some places for less and positively on SS, ThinkStock and DP.

I think this, everyone sells the same things, will eventually break down the idea that it's easy money to sell on or open a site and make reasonable income.

Used to be corner drug stores all over. Soda shops, custard stands, little shops, grocery stores and gas stations, all over.  All competing, but also making a living. Look now. Big box stores, chains, home improvement store, grocery chains, convenience stores in gas stations. And funny thing is, with less places selling, the prices are still as low as they can make them.

The idea that if there were only say ten big agencies, there would somehow be a monopoly doesn't seem to work in the real world. If the big places raise prices, new competition will pop up. If they sell low enough, there's no market for new businesses.

OK what's the point? Well there's no room for new businesses in Microstock and hasn't been for years. Places offering 75% commissions, are checking out. The 20% discount on a site that's pretty much invisible to buyers, isn't going to save them. The trick of "free images" to bait people, has become stale.

In six or seven years there's one possible exception. Deposit Photos, and they spent millions, invested millions, payed up front and have spent who know what on marketing to buyers. In other words, you aren't going to start the next big agency, in your basement on a shoestring. The Microstock business in a multi-million dollar industry. Without deep pockets and extensive funding, most of the old smaller agencies will eventually fail and anything new, will too.

You know what 20% off says, just like free images, easy acceptance reviews or 75% commission? Desperation!

Very unfortunate situation, but very true Pete.
