I think we have a lot of Norwegians here! So i may ask a question:
i'm at the middle of march in Oslo for two days and probably have some sparetime any interesting things to see there (beside the airport) or any other tips? I hope it's not too cold right now!
Looking forward to hear from you.
Thanks in advance!

Hey there.

Perhaps we could gather a few people and have a little get together :)  Not sure there are many others from oslo besides me, but there might be one or two others.

Since Oslo is such an expensive place (if you come from anywhere besides Norway or Iceland) I have also made note of free things to do, for when people from Canada come to visit (my homeland) :)

Free places that are a must see
Vigelandsparken - large outdoor park with tons of large statues
National museum - which has lots of old art - a little Munch, Picasso and a number of others
Akershus Festning - a type of old fortress, also has a paid tour to go on
Korketrekkeren - a 3 km tobogganing hill with the subway to take you to the top again.  Might be a little warm for that though.
The docks to look at some large ships
Karl Johann street - just a nice walking street downtown between the castle and the main train station.

hmm not sure what else but paid things...
Folkemuseum - an museum of lots of old norwegian buildings and such, pretty nice and lots to see and take pics of, including a stavechurch (a type of church made of wood with NO nails from the 1100's)
kontiki museum
large ski jump

here is a link which tells about a few of those things

Thanks Leaf,
sounds great :D but i think i can only pick up one of the tips, will be a hard decision.
A little meeting would be great but will hard to plan for me because the job i have to do has no fixed beginning so far and in any case no fixed ending  :(. But if you arrange one let me now so i can join spontaneous  ;D :D.

ohhh you are WORKING???  i see

i thought you had free time?

what are you up to in Oslo?

if you only had time for one thing, vigelandsparken would be a good option, free and nice to walk around in (the place with all the statues)

or if you have 4 hours one day or more then the folkemuseum would be a good option

if you have 2 hours downtown one day, check out the museum.  I would still be interested in meeting up if you happened to have 1/2 hour warning one of the days.  We could go on a photo shoot of something or other.  Vigelands parken for example.

any others in the area that day?

Leaf,

A friend of mine enjoyed photographing the statues at Vingeland, it was difficulty to take her from there.  ;)

I enjoyed the Folk Museum, but the Viking ships were more interesting.

Adelaide

I agree on Norsk Folkemuseum. Great place to take photos for half an hour or a whole day, particularly for those who like history and old architecture.

i agree that the old viking ships are pretty exciting and fun to think that a group of roudies sailed over the ocean in them... looks pretty cold and primitive if i you as me.

I like the folk museum because it has lots to see and takes a while to get through.  the viking museum is pretty small.  However it is pretty easy to do both as they are side by side.
