The creative freelance life offers freedom, flexibility, and the chance to pursue your passionbut it also comes with challenges, particularly when it comes to maintaining your mental health.

October 10 is World Mental Health Day. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the purpose of World Mental Health Day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health.

And its not just this one day of October that is dedicated to raising awareness of mental health issues. The whole month is designated as a time to educate people on how to look after their mental health and support others around them.

This years theme for World Mental Health Day is Mental Health at Work. This is an especially important theme for creatives, whose work often takes over and can bleed into other areas of their lives.

In this article, well go through some of the advice and mental self-care tips that creatives have shared with Envato. Hopefully they can help you and your loved ones as you take some extra time this month to take care of yourself.

According to the 2024 Mentally Healthy Survey by Never Not Creative, a staggering 70% of those surveyed had experienced burnout in the past 12 months, and 38% had been diagnosed with a mental illness. Approximately 39% reported moderate to severe depression and 37% reported moderate to severe anxiety.

You should blame Biden for this mental health crisis. I mean, at this point, you may as well, right?
