Title: Razzie Awards for January - Worse Performers
Post by: No Free Lunch on January 31, 2015, 12:37
My Razzie Award for the month of January goes to Dreamstime.  They win my award by horrible sales, low RPD and SLOW reviews!

Thank you Dreamstime for working hard to earn this award  :-\

I nominate iStock. They lowered the price of all my vectors, then decided to be snooty again about what to accept, rejecting best sellers at other sites. So as usual I only upload about half my images to them. And credit sales are dropping like a stone as subs take over, lowering RPD to below that of SS and DT.

+1 on Istock.   After PP they will probably beat DT for overall income, but they dropped a lot farther.   DT was never such a big player for me.

Dreamstime for me. I was lucky to make $60 this month, 1/3 of what used to be my average. They tweaked a dial or implemented an aggressive subs push and it is killing me, yet enriching them.  Seriously, soon I will only upload iPhone pics and sell my studio equipment. It just isn't worth it.

EDIT: I have over 3,000 images on DT.

IS - 0 regular downloads (on an admittedly small and weak port, but still - how the mighty have fallen). Dec subs and PP was pretty good (for them) though.

Weird but DT is actually the only one that stood ground this month despite having less then half my port there. I was even planning to quit them.

SS, while still my biggest earner deserves the razzie awards from me this month followed by FT. Huge nose dive on SS, back to may 2013!

Mine goes to Fotolia - worst month ever, made less than 10USD on a 900+ port. Lowest RPD due to my sales being mainly subs. My Jan RPD was also 20 cents below my average RPD at SS - the main subscription side to date. If the RPD at FT is a foreboding of the things to come there...

How are you doing at Stocksy Melanie? Now that seems like a nice place to be at. Looks like one of the very few agencies out there that still gives a rats about their suppliers!

DT by a long shot. All agencies showed modest increases from last January in # of sales and money earned except DT. Huge drop in sales yet almost doubled my portfolio in the past year. Looking at the Microstock Poll I must be the exception especially since 123rf, P5 and DP are doing soooo much better than Dreamstime.

I am doing fine at Stocksy - it's been my best earner from the very early days of joining. Of course, I also experience up and downs over there (the last two months have been below average there) - but it still remained my best earner, beating all my micros that have bigger ports. Which also means that in shooting first and foremost I care about my stocksy port and then about the rest.

Alright that is good to hear, thanks.
