Title: SS filling in data and driving me crazy!
Post by: Uncle Pete on October 14, 2019, 12:05
Every browser on every computer and I can't figure out what's storing or doing this, or more to the point, how do I get rid of it?

When I go to SS and in the search, whether it's in my portfolio for editing or the general site or my own page, some form fill is putting in eseburger! I know I typed it in wrong over a month ago, but it won't go away. I can be at home on a desktop, or on my laptop on the road and still the darn word shows up.

Windows 10 and Chrome or Firefox, which makes me think it's not the browser. I cleared all cookies, nope. I cleared history and form fill, nope.

This is insane.

My other thought is somehow SS is storing this? Which seems pretty illogical, but once again, across computers and browsers, what else am I missing?

Seems like SS tracks their users on their site. Hopefully they'll stay away from tracking their users elsewhere.

LOL if you know the data collection and it's not even deep, sites can tell where you are, that's obvious, but they also can see where you cane from, what site. There's so much tracking it's surprising anything useful can come from it.

I did delete all my cookies. I'm not logged in sometimes, so they haven't placed something on my account. It's on all browsers, which could mean something is shared and has been written to all. I cleared history and form fill. Someone who understands the insides of Windows 10 will know the answer. It's not SS in my opinion, it's something that Microsoft thinks we want that we never asked for.

I see them always tracks users to enhance the experience as they say.

Right, and with the new system, that error went away. I should have mentioned that. It was a cookie or something else. And clearing data and cookies, didn't make it go away, so my assumption is that SS put something on my computer, from that search, and it was stuck.

I can go to a news site now and see a SS ad and it will always have related images to what I looked at most recently. The best part is, seeing 4 out of 5 are my own that I was checking or updating. That means, just like eBay, if you search for something, you'll be tracked and they will try to make sure you see more of the same.

eBay sends emails, for about a week, "are you still interested in" which can also be a laugh, because I searched so I could establish a fair price for something I'm selling, not because I'm buying.

They fixed whatever was causing that flawed memory.
