Australia (this weekend) and Canada have just had their federal elections and an anti-trump wave swept both nations.

NYT: "Australia's Election wasn't about trump. But an anti-trump wave swept it anyway".

CNN: "Australians delivered a surprise election result on Saturday; not because of who won but by the scale of the victory."

BBC: "Australian opposition party reeling after Albanese's landslide election win"

AM24, The Ukrainian press does not write about political life in Australia, so I do not know it. Who won there, the ruling party and politicians or the opposition? What does this victory mean for Australia? What are your hopes and plans there?

REBUILD, AND OPEN ALCATRAZ! For too long, America has been plagued by vicious, violent, and repeat Criminal Offenders, the dregs of society, who will never contribute anything other than Misery and Suffering. When we were a more serious Nation, in times past, we did not hesitate to lock up the most dangerous criminals, and keep them far away from anyone they could harm. Thats the way its supposed to be. No longer will we tolerate these Serial Offenders who spread filth, bloodshed, and mayhem on our streets. That is why, today, I am directing the Bureau of Prisons, together with the Department of Justice, FBI, and Homeland Security, to reopen a substantially enlarged and rebuilt ALCATRAZ, to house Americas most ruthless and violent Offenders. We will no longer be held hostage to criminals, thugs, and Judges that are afraid to do their job and allow us to remove criminals, who came into our Country illegally. The reopening of ALCATRAZ will serve as a symbol of Law, Order, and JUSTICE. We will, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Do you know why Ukraine had the sympathies and assistance it received when it was invaded by Russia? At least by all the democracies around the world?  Whether you think it was enough or timely or not? It was because it was a democracy. All the aid that you received from around the world was because the world was trying to protect the rights of a sovereign democratic country being invaded by one that was not.

Do you know what the pillars of democracy are?

Just to refresh you:

A democratic government rests on these seven essential pillars: popular sovereignty, the Rule of Law, separation of powers, protection of individual rights, independent media and civil society, accountable government, and the protection of minority rights.

Whether you personally like, approve or disprove of them, EVERY individual is afforded the same rights. Whether they are a citizen or not. Every single person.

Do you know the oath of office of the president of the USA?

Just to refresh you: "I will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States." That's it! He has one job and one job only. And he is not doing that. He even admitted that on Meet the Press this week. He is doing the exact opposite.

To answer your question above, in the Australian and Canadian elections, there was an overwhelming support for the parties that were not aligned with trump and a huge backlash against the right wing/conservative parties that were aligning with him. This is just the tip of the iceberg that says, the world is watching, that the individuals of democratic countries are so concerned that they are voting against trump in the only way they can.

So, don't give us anymore of your dribble. If you want to support Ukraine, support democracy.

I doubt very much that your statements will be received correctly, but I agree 100 percent with everything you write here!

Theory + rose-colored glasses (snot) and reality, as it turned out, are very different things.
I myself find it very unpleasant to think that I used to be such a fool who believed in the Democrats and believed in democracy and the rule of law.
But I think Trump will bring order to this issue. Of course, his methods are shocking, but they have a positive result for Ukraine and the EU.

AM24, what's the point of protesting against Trump in Australia? You might as well protest against putin there yet. Australia is an English colony (former), not even an American one.
If you want to protest against Trump, then go to the US, at least there will be some sense.
In general, I understand that Australians voted for a politicals impotents. Well, you know better, I would like to be wrong.

I can only imagine the pain and the loss that Ukrainians have suffered. Well not me personally, but I think you know my parents were European, and how they suffered and fought to come here and raised us to believe in freedom and the rights of others.

But one man is never the answer, no matter how 'strong' he may appear. There is always too much ego. I don't have to tell you to look back throughout history and its always the same story. These megalomaniacs always prey on people's fears and anger - and it ALWAYS eventually goes bad for everyone.

You have to fight for democracy. Don't give up on it. Who was it that said, "Democracy is not perfect, but its the best system we have"?

Trump said the best pope would be himself.

Trump as pope woud actually not be that bad, because as pope, he could do a lot less harm than as POTUS, although I understand if the Catholics do not like the idea.

Too bad that he is not a Catholic and thus not eligible.

It is sad that Zelensky rejected the idea of a ceasefire during the celebration of the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II. If I'm not mistaken, his grandfather also died in this war. And now, when he threatens the participants of the parade on Red Square, he betrays the memory of his ancestors.

Zelensky didn't reject Putin's 3 day ceasefire for the parade, he offered a 30 day ceasefire instead. Russia didn't agree to it, which tells you everything about what the 3 day ceasefire is for (to protect Putin and his precious parade). The current parade in Russia is just a propaganda show. For countless years it's not about the veterans of WW2 as it should be, it's about projecting military power and preparing the new generation for Putin's upcoming wars.

You seem to be from Russia. Have you ever asked yourself why the soviet victory in WW2 is so much glorified in current Russia, but the fact that Soviet Union started the WW2 on the side of Nazi Germany in 1939 by invading Poland isn't mentioned at all?
