Lately I've been listening to OSTs a lot. I like them, because I get to listen to genres I wouldn't otherwise and find a lot of great new songs. My fav is Lock stock and two smoking barrels (the movie is great too), The last Samurai (Hans Zimmerman), I came across Lincoln lawyer and liked it too

Definitely everything from Hans Zimmer (not Zimmerman), especially "The Dark Knight". The OST from the first Hellraiser is great too, but very dark...Another favorite one is "Tron legacy" from Daft Punk. All very dramatic stuff....love that  ;D
If you happen to like UK hiphop and breakbeat you may look into the Soundtrack of "Sket". You can listen to it on their official Website: http://www.sketmovie.com/sket.php The Movie is nice too...

Cliff Martinez, Clint Mansell, Hans Zimmer, James Horner, John Williams and many more.
One that I still can't enough of is "Solaris" by Cliff Martinez.

I love movies but I'm not a big fan of listening to soundtracks "separately". I think movie music works best when listened watching the movie. Many of the best movie music isn't good "listening music".

My favorite movie composers are perhaps Bernard Herrmann and Jerry Goldsmith, but their music doesn't work as good without the image.

If I had to listen to soundtracks, I'd propably listen to John Williams or Chaplin.

Hans Zipper feels often too over-the-rop, he just seems to "max out" at every point possible instead of playing with subtleties :)

I can't remember who did it, but the score for "Event Horizon" used to be one of my favorites. Thanks for bringing this up and making me look at OSTs again!

My God, speak English or at least give a clue in the OP. It took me three messages to figure out what an OST was...  ;D

Local Hero - obscure cultish movie, (shot mostly on the West coast of Scotland) very funny. Mark Knopfler original music sound track. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_Hero_%28album%29

Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - never thought of the soundtrack, one of my top favorite movies. Makes me want to get it out and watch now. I own the DVD along with Snatch. Both make me smile. There's a soundtrack CD for that, really? Oh now I see, released in the US 1999 it's a compilation and hey what's new. the US version has nine less songs than the UK release. Bummer.

A movie called Crossroads (no not that one, no not that one either...) Ralph Macchio and Joe Seneca, the kid it trying to find the last two lost songs of Robert Johnson. Coming of age, road trip, blues kind of movie. Fairly obscure. Saw it once, and knew I had to own it.

Here's a tease - Arlen Roth was Macchio's guitar tutor for the film and played many of his pieces in the movie. According to Roth on his site, arlenroth.com, the final duel was arranged from parts played by himself, Steve Vai, Ry Cooder and Bill Kanegiser, who did the classical playing throughout the film. Roth wasn't credited for his work on the movie, due to a contractual disagreement.

So with a lineup of names like that, you know the guitar playing kicks Ass!

$5 used CD Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect?tag=antiquesandcol0e&path=subst/home/home.html

Speaking of guitar, I forgot to mention one of my favorites, "Rush" by Eric Clapton (flick and ST)

Oh, I have just figured out while typing the sentence I just deleted what the O stands for.
Out of Africa
Return to Paradise (haven't seen the film, doesn't get a great write-up)
Bend it like Beckham's soundtrack is evocative of the time, as is Billy Elliot's of its time.
