I want to get a print done around 40x50cm on thickish paper (a watercolor paper or Ilford gallery gold if that says anything). Does anyone know of a decent online lab when I can order such a thing at a reasonable price?

I can't think of any up here but you could try http://whcc.com/ in Minneapolis.  Their shipments are pre-cleared into Canada.  Maybe paper like this?  http://www.whcc.com/products/prints-finishing/fine-art-prints/ .  I have an account with them, but it isn't instant.  They want you to inspect 6 prints to make sure you are happy with their colour matching.

Thanks I'll take a look.

By the quick browsing of the prices it may be just as well to get my printer up and running again (aka buy some ink)..

Interesting topic. I was looking yesterday at fine art papers to print inkjet on. Looked at Moab, Hahnemuhle and Innova. I can print on an Epson 4800 at school but I would like to print 13x19 size. The paper comes in 25 sheets per pack, but I was hoping to buy less sheets than that. It was good to be able to compare and weigh printing myself or sending out.

.. oh those sizes at WHCC are in inches.. I was thinking they were cm.  They prices aren't too bad then.

BTW, are you in Sask?  I haven't been out yet, but going 12th Aug.  Meant to send you a note sooner.  PM me if you are on my side of the world.  We are thinking about moving to Saskatoon after this school year.

Ah, too bad.  I have to be here to shoot a wedding here on the 11th or I could have come a little earlier.  Every year we say "plan ahead".
