Title: Good or rejected?
Post by: aboss3 on January 29, 2013, 13:04
Hi,
Before submitting my photo to iStock, I wanted to share it with the rest of the community to tell me if it's good or might be rejected?

Please critique and tell me your thoughts.

its good.
if it holds water in 100%
Problem is there is no concept other than an interesting woman, who is a concept in it self.
There could be trademarks on the glasses, I dont know how that ended.

HEY, did you say istock? Then I wont help.

Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback. Being declined once already, I'd like to make it right this time :) Hope to use this photo as the one that requires a model release.

If this is for an application, you don't need an MR, and I don't think there's any way to append one on an application image. The specs wouldn't be a problem for application either.

I'm guessing that the specs thing is unlikely to have legs. Yuri still has models wearing a wide variety of specs, and iS is still accepting people wearing a wide variety of specs.
I'm guessing that some of these specs might be from the wannabe litigious company.

But as far as the quality/composition do you think it'll pass?

Have you read some of the things being talked about about istock?

Do you know what your are venturing into?

Yes, I'm planning to submit to multiple stock sites. I also want to try shutterstock, as I was rejected in the past. I spent a lot of time learning the art of photography since then, opened my studio, and now decided that it's time to try it again. :)

Hopefully you guys will critique my photos and provide some feedback before I go to "war" again :)

I like the first image a lot (might want to play with contrast and vibrancy to make it pop a little more), but am less sure about the third one. Is the concept I'm not sure they'll like, not it's execution.  I would submit straightforward still life kinds of shots for that first review. Once you're in, try everything and anything.

I've added a few more "alternate" images that I'm hoping to get the feedback on. So far, image #1 looks like a keeper. I myself am not sure about the 2nd one, but my wife tried to convince me to include it as well. So image #3 is in question looks like.

The first 2 images are really superb. Also, the additional images makes more sense and looking amazing now.

Hi , i will advice to edit the background to pure white in some compositions. You some shadows that you can avoid. In Hand and coffee cup the  background should be more white that the cup....In the pills image i think that you must choose between put the girl in image or not....but the hair is very intrusive. If you put the girl, give us a girl detail like a face expression or something , not only the hair. Appear that some accidentally get in front of lenses....

The Portrait is really good.
