Title: Not in focus
Post by: ShadySue on April 11, 2013, 10:33
I've had a couple or rejections in the past couple of days for not in focus.

I left this one overnight but either my eyes aren't functioning or I'm still too 'close' to this image, and can't see where it's out of focus. I did a whole series of this from pre-sunrise until the sun was just above the horizon, so if you can tell me where the lack of focus is on this, I can check on the others before I submit one.

TIA

I can't go back and reshoot!

I looked at it at full resolution and I can't find any part of the ocean that is in focus. Sorry. :(

Looks like your infinity focus was set just off infinity focus

I agree that the ocean is out of focus. Sue cant you shoot another body of water (ocean/sea) close to your home at sunset and use that to make a composite? Replace the OOF water.

Ha, I live 7 miles from the sea and we never get lovely sunrises, it just gets paler grey. We get nice sunsets over Arran, in late October to December, but only if we're lucky!

I hope you dont mind, I quickly replaced the water and now it is in focus. They could be salvaged.

amen to that! it's hard, and lucky: you have to be there at just the right time and then face a ticking countdown to get the shot. Sure, there is some gratification in that... but still, there's also bugs and stuff... (++ for Australian landscapes, last week we were out west on our hobby farm; I just shot pics of my new boots  ;D )
