I've looked at this one pretty well I hope.  Please let me know what you think.

I think that Shutterstock reviewer would say :"Poor Lighting--Poor or uneven lighting, or shadows. White balance may be incorrect."
+ there is strange reflection in lower part of image.

it is a nice different picture, never seen something like that I guess..

how about lighting a little more the bottom, try to give it the same amount of light all around and try to get ride of that reflection.. perhaps cover around the "object" with some white/black "boards"

It is a much better image than the road signs (better subject matter, better sharpness).

Yes keep going with this.

Go crazy with the light setup. Light the glass from all sides, alternate angles and strength of light (if you can).

That's a lot better than street signs!

Thanks all,

When you say keep going with this, I have to submit 3 different kind of images doint I?  I can't submit 3 food shots...

Correct.  Don't specialize in drinks, because you absolutely need different subjects to pass the entrance test.  Add at least 1 people shot.

In that case, don't add people.  I wouldn't want you to be the first person to die for microstock  :D

LOL, I'm enjoying this day.  This is the first time I've actually had an image that didn't get flamed (and I mean really bad).  Maybe I'm actually learning something.  Nah, probably just got lucky.

Aren't you here to get your images flamed  ;)  The white balance looks off from my end.  The right side looks like it has the edge of the glass and background showing, probably shouldn't be there.

Well hopefully not, If they all get flamed then I never get to apply. :o

it is a nice different picture, never seen something like that I guess..

lol that was cynical, really do the world need any more 'lemon with water bubbles or water splashes' - shots, they are literally hundred of thousands of it, you better go for 'woman with headset' or 'strawberries on white'  ::) ::).
People do complain about keyword-spamming but image-spamming is so much worse I'm sick of seeing the same shots over and over again, I guess sane buyers must feel the same.

Well it is less clean than most 'lemon with water bubbles' - shots, which is actually a good thing but it won't pass the review process at most microagencies because of that. But 'lemon with water bubbles' really??? Is it really that hard to be creative??

I am not going to spend all my afternoon discussing this topic.. the creativity topic would take us far and perhaps no where.. agencies still approved about "everything" done in perfection and some not that well actually.. everybody has their style, could be only a object or a bunch of them.. but if you look at top contributors there isnt much creativity (it was 3 or 4 years when they started, now it is just more than what they have already)

of course every time we shoot we chase a different picture, to add something different, special that may not be online.. some will took off other wont be worth as you know.. overall we just need to keep on producing, improving our work and upload.. and other and other.. raising the bar

Yes.

It is nowadays, since there are millions of photos and hundreds of thousands photographers. Chances are anything that's shot in-studio has been done at least a hundred times before.  :)

And I wonder why successful photographers re-shoot their best sellers all the time...

They all must be real idiots wasting their time like that...  ::)

There are proven concepts which will work and should be adapted - I agree. And in micro you are forced to using standards to have success - I agree. But some things probably have never really be best sellers and still done over and over again because they are so easy and obvious and/or are typical amateur themes etc. , these themes just fill up the data-base and nobody needs them. So forget about creativity but at least do some research of what is actually selling and is needed.

I believe everything has a time, people starting today wont produce the same pictures in 2 years after, at least in terms of quality so every subject every picture is a learning procedure and it will only make you a better stock photographer and perhaps a photographer too :) if agencies keep on approving them and contributors keep on doing them I dont see your point of only producing GREAT stock pictures and concepts etc etc.. we arent kids and we do know what we are doing, thanks anyway  ;D
