Title: Second rejection from IStock - what's wrong?
Post by: rooby on May 02, 2011, 04:59
Hi all, couple days ago I got second rejection from IStock. So, I must to ask you what is wrong with those pictures... This is their reason and I don't understand what kind of pictures they want to see:
"Two or more of these images are very similar in subject matter, perspective or style. We would like to see a demonstrated range of diversity in technical ability and a variety in subject matter. So if you have anything else you can show us we would love to see it. We welcome you to return after the number of days specified and upload fresh samples of your work and we will re-process your application. Please note that you will not be able to upload new samples until this waiting period has passed. "

Here are pictures:

Hi.

Well, as IS writes, you have sent 3 images of food isolated on white. There may be nothing wrong with the images, but they want you to show 3 different image categories/style, for example on of food, one of a beautiful sunset, and one portrait.

Cheers

I had this same problem with my submission and was rejected first time.  I had submitted three wildlife images, all different animals but all lite from basically the front.  They want a diversity of lighting and different images to show that you can do more than one kind of work.  My second attempt was right on and accepted.

Do you have samples of your accepted photos? I am in the same boat.

The lighting isn't good on any of them - the whites are gray; the white balance isn't right on the lettuce photo, and the composition is rather "blah" in all three.

You'll need to improve image quality, lighting and composition as well as diversifying a bit if you want to try again. Sorry to be blunt, but that's the reality of your situation, I'm afraid.

I just followed your links to your images and picked up an executable malware program that AVG had to quarantine.  FYI.

Image Shack has malware on it? That's some amazing news.

I like the 3rd one, you could probably keep it.

Try to do a night urban shot and a nature landscape during the day

Your photo need to be completely different one another.

I've been rejected 3 times, I need some critique so I can try again.

You need more light from the front. They look just a bit soft. Lighten them up a bit, and reduce the size to a minimum.
