Just remember this is a site with a proven record of screwing contributors. Sure you might make good money, or maybe you will contribute to lowering prices or maybe put a lot of effort into it and they will boot you out one day.

Agencies sure like the word "exciting". Like they all went to the same "how to convince contributors into anything" class.

Premium quality for cents are definitely one of those EXCITING news.

To be fair to Envato if its anything like Elements for images (photos) you do get a generous share in unspent subscription revenue at around $260 per month though the individual sales are very low.

Any "exciting" news in which they try really hard to convince you, should be taken with a bucket of salt.

Agencies also always like to add things like 'reach a new audience' and 'whole new revenue stream' while previous experience has shown that it almost always eats away the current revenue stream.

In addition to all the caveats above, you have to decide if you think this will work in the medium to longer term, even if you make something decent in the short term.

They are pitching that it's a limited group who will participate - because they know if they take in too many videos it'll dilute earnings. But if this package is appealing, buyers will want more choice of videos which will encourage Envato to include more content, which will dilute your earnings.

Where are these new buyers coming from? Where could they be coming from? There is a market for video, but how is that going to suddenly enlarge because of their marketing and promotion? I doubt that it will, which means that they're either cannibalizing their own sales or stealing from another agency. There's no magic here.

I'm sure those quotes are genuine from the early participants, but would you bet you'll see the same type of enthusiasm?

Bottom line is that your interests and the agency's interests will not be aligned - they will want more buyers and don't care about how many videos are in the pool. You will want to sustain your earnings by keeping the pool of videos limited. It won't end well for contributors, IMO.

I received it and declined. It would be terribly unfair to sell my clips for 199$ at some agencies and at the same time dozens of those files could be downloaded for a couple of dollars on Elements. Now if you are only on P5 and selling your clips for 5$ each you might consider it......

My Elements sales have gradually increased every month for the past 12 months, so whatever they're doing with regards to the 'bringing in more buyers vs bringing in more content' situation... it definitely seems to be working.

I've actually generate more revenue on Elements with my stock footage, than I ever did on VideoHive... so although my VideoHive sales have experienced a small drop, the revenue from Elements more than makes up for it. Previous annual sales were about $5K before Elements... currently around $12K with Elements and VideoHive.

From a "you'll be contributing to the end of civilization as we know it" kind of standpoint... that's up to you whether you want to climb aboard. But as Elements has been around for quite some time, and doesn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon... you're currently experiencing all of the downsides of Elements (cannibalization of VideoHive sales) without any of the up sides (more money!). Plus you get the monthly bonus shared from people who haven't downloaded anything. It's between $200 and $300 a month, no matter how many items you have.

So, whatever you may feel about subscriptions, Elements definitely seem to be the lesser of several evils. Take Motion Array for example... with multiple use licenses and an 'everyone is welcome' approach... my sales have gone down nearly every month for the last year. With Elements... their single use licencing, and limited number of contributors... my sales have gone up every month for the last year.

Are you considering applications from photographers who were booted a while back?

...exactly as my experience at other agency, what convinced me to ran asap I was able to... in long term it`s bad for us and for agency too... they will get new files when you go away, for sure... but every contributor will experience the same - to many files, so little return(share)... well imagined scheme in short terms, with bankruptcy for both sides at the end...

Elements is the only subscription site where my earnings have gone up every month. All the others, they pretty much go down every month.

Are videos on Videohive reported in real time or once per month? For example, if you go to Videohive/YourUsername/Portfolio, the list of accepted videos show up, and next to them it shows number of purchases. If one would buy one of those videos for example, today, will it show there, or do you have to wait till the 10th of the month or whenever Elements earnings are reported?

VideoHive and Elements are two completely different websites, with different systems and staff. No sales numbers are shared between them.

If you make a sale on VideoHive (the marketplace), it shows up right away. Elements sales do not show on VideoHive.

The number of sales on Elements are never shown, only the $ amount for each clip one time per month.

In my opinion, Elements is the best site for my photography and Evato is my very favorite agency. No, my items don't sell for a huge dollar amount, but they are fair to their contributors with their contributor share model. Currently, Elements and Adobe are the only two agencies where I see an increase. So if you are invited to contribute, it is an exciting opportunity. I've been focused on grad school for the last two years and I haven't been uploading like I should, but next week when I start again, my main focus will be Envato Elements. They are my top earner, and in my opinion the only agency that compensates me fairly for the work that I do. I have nothing but praise for their approach.
