"We�re changing the way we share revenue from inactive Elements subscribers

Hi there,

We are announcing an important change to the way that we share revenue from some Elements subscribers.

Until now, we�ve used 50% of the revenue from inactive Elements subscribers (subscribers who don�t license any items in a given month) to fund different content creation programs and Author incentives. The most significant of these programs and incentives has been the Content Bonus.

We�ve recently been taking a closer look at how we can update our strategic focus. As part of this, we have reviewed these programs and have made the difficult decision to discontinue the Content Bonus and the sharing of revenue from inactive subscribers in this way.

The Content Bonus was introduced to help support Authors in their decision to join Elements. It provided a boost to earnings and helped us grow our library by rewarding Authors who publish regularly.

Now, 6 years on, we have over 5,000 Authors on Elements and our publishing rate has grown strongly over time. With over 10 million items, Envato Elements has one of the largest libraries of any unlimited creative content subscription service in the world.

This success, driven by our talented Author community and the high quality content we feature on Elements, means we have more and more subscribers signing up every day.

More subscribers equal more earnings for Elements Authors. In fact, the earnings we pay to our Elements Author community has more than doubled in the last 2 years alone. 

We believe funds previously provided for the Content Bonus are better invested in continuing to attract, retain, and grow even more subscribers. These investments will help to secure a strong future for Elements and ultimately benefit Authors by increasing the overall amount and flow of future earnings.

We know that the Content Bonus represents a much anticipated component of many Authors� incomes each month, so we�re providing as much notice as possible to allow you time to prepare for this change.

The last payment of the Content Bonus will be in September 2022 (covering the July earning month).

It is important to note that these changes do not impact our 50% subscriber share model. Our subscriber share model remains one of the most equitable and community-oriented in the industry.

It was just a matter of time. Envanto was my last decent earner being in this program.  Once again then spin masters have struck.

But at least they are letting people know well in advance.

Agencies will change over time, but if they communicate clearly it really helps.

Now those that want to, can make an extra effort getting files online.

And perhaps they will reconsider and come up with another bonus special.

It helps to know that you have three months to prepare yourself. And you can use that time to aggressively fill your port and get more bonus money.

Shutterstock cut 70% income with 7 days notice, so I would say this is certainly an improvement.

All agencies keep changing and it is unlikely to be in our favor when they do, but I appreciate being told well in advance.

And maybe they will add a new bonus system. Not getting my hopes too high but it is always possible.

I don't understand your "aggressiively fill your port" strategy. If I am a contributor to an agency, there is little reason for me to withhold content. Everything that is processed and worth uploading is getting uploaded and I am pretty sure most handle it the same - The only reason why some people withhold content to agencies is to give the best quality content to the agencies that earn the most and only "dump" their lesser quality content at agencies that pay less.

Also, if an agency cuts my profits, my initial thought isn't "Give them more content! Fast!", no matter whether the agency gives me a notice of 3 months (It's 6 weeks, not 3 months by the way, as the announcement says the last payment will be covering the July earning month) or 7 dayys - Why should I put some extra special effort into an agency that just told me I'd be earning less with my content in the futurte? More money for 6 weeks, but less money for the rest of my life after that isn't math that works out for me to justify putting more effort than before into an agency. Maybe it works for you, but it seems like a strange logic to me.

Started writing a lengthy reply to this nonsense, but really what�s the point. It�s just another cash grab because they can.

I agree, with no bonus and Shutterstock buying P5, I feel defeated ...

What do you guys think of Blackbox.global adding 2 million+ files to the collection? That's gonna hurt sales and hurt the whole market..

Being in the Envanto program, they have become my best earner.  Time will tell if the hit is only 10% as they claim.  Honestly, I hope it's only 10%, but highly doubt it. Usually means 2-3X of what they claim.
