"Today we’re announcing a change to how we calculate net revenue45 (and thereby author earnings) for Elements. Starting January 1, 2018, we will deduct the cost of Tuts+ course creation from Elements gross revenue, before calculating the earnings split with authors.
How did we get here?
Creating a subscription service has a lot of moving parts. One of the most important parts is making sure that whatever is included creates the kind of value that keeps subscribers renewing month after month.
For most of this year Envato has been steadily adding new content into Elements. We’ve rolled in our Tuts+ courses subscription valued at $19/mo (including the complete catalogue from A Book Apart ($192 value)), added 250,000 amazing photos and given subscribers access to the invoicing app AND CO.
All of these have been added to Elements to further increase the value of the subscription and provide more reasons for subscribers to stick around longer (who wants to lose access to authors’ content and all these extras?!).
To date, the cost of Tuts+ course creation (including A Book Apart) has been taken on exclusively by Envato, even though the rewards are shared equally with authors. While this may seem like a great win for authors, it’s not sustainable long term for Envato or Elements.
So, from January 1, 2018, we will deduct the cost of creating Tuts+ course content from gross revenue in addition to what’s already deducted; transactional taxes (such as VAT, GST, sales tax), refunds, chargebacks, affiliate fees, and payment processing fees and then split the remaining amount (net revenue45) between authors and Envato using the subscriber share method16.
This will ensure that we’ll be able to sustain content like this in the future, continue to build the platform and grow the total number of subscribers coming back to Elements month after month.
What’s next?
As we move closer to January 1, 2018, we will update our Elements Author Terms, help centre articles and adjust our earnings calculator to prepare for this change. There is no action required from authors.
We know there will likely be questions around this change and we’ll be around to answer any questions you’ve got about it. We’ll answer in batches for the first week and then anything that hasn’t been answered on an as-needed basis for the next few weeks."

There's lot of angry people on the Envanto forum.

WOW!!!!!!!!
-
there is that word - "sustainability"...
I'd be really pissed if they didn't already delete all my stuff.
-
I have no words. They can justify subtracting anything with the wonky reasoning that what's good for them is good for us. So shady.

I got the email from Envato but the link to the forum doesn't work.
All it says is: Sorry, you don't have access to that topic!
I wonder if people got so angry that they decided to shut down the thread.

Worked once, they deleted my content, now my approach is: maybe I'll take the time one day to re-load, maybe.

So, if I understand well (sorry I'm not english native) the agency put the expenses on the contributors...
This is really WORST than a commission cut, they are going to tell contributors that YOU pay a fee to have a place in agency.
Next step: reopen to any contributor... that pay the fee :)
No thanks. I'm happy the be kicked off from this. Simply ridiculous, I should have to pay for your work cutting from my fee... I don't know any anti basic economy rule choice
If I understand well!

Thanks, but no access. I'm not in the Elements program so maybe that's why. Just wanted to read out of curiosity.

I sell on Elements and I am logged in but still no access.

They're a bunch of charlatans!

A while back I received the invitation to include my portfolio in elements. I did not accept but instead left my account and portfolio to languish there in limbo while I waited to see what direction Envato was going to take with their so called restructuring. I'm glad I waited, because with this I can see where they are going...straight into oblivion. Pulling my portfolio and closing my account first thing in the morning.
Also logged in (Photodune) and can't view it either.

So happy they deleted all my stuff. Bunch of crooks, the lot of them

Crooks that give more than 100$ bonus each month? Which other non-crooked agency does that?

Not any more...well probably not any more. We need to see how big the cut is now that we are funding their work instead of it coming out of their share of the pie.
