My 6D is acting up. Won't turn on with charged battery. Just showing a flashing empty battery symbol.
A year ago rain penetrated the body which caused issues but resolved when letting the camera dry. Maybe its related but I have been shooting without issues for a year.
Any suggestions?
And no, I won't buy Nikon :P

Buy a Pentax. They are weather proof.
More useful: check the battery terminals both on the camera and the battery. If it got wet some tarnish / corrosion could be present. If it is just enough to increase resistance at the terminals that might cause the problem. If you see anything it can be cleaned with either a soft micrfiber cloth or a pencil eraser.
It is also possible the moisture caused similar issues internally that are just starting to show but that would not be good so I hope it is just the battery terminals.

Husband uses Q-tip and slight bit alcohol to clean things like battery connections on electronic non-camera equipment at his job. I have not tried it on my batteries. Alcohol is an organic solvent that cleans off junk without hurting the metal on circuit boards full of electronic parts. Des not hurt plastic he encounters or components or the circuit board.
I had this issue a lot with a Nikon and it was the batter terminals. The problem seemed to repeat itself more than once. My batteries are about 5-6 yrs. old with lots of use However, also got a camera body slightly wet when some drops of liquid got in the carrying case and that one is toast and was immediately

I encountered this type of Problem with various Canons already. If the contacts are clean, best bet is to try another battery. I had similar cases with one 7D and one 5D.

Thanks for the help guys. I have two batteries. Original Canon. Both same issue. However. When I fully charged one the problem went away. Still worried if the camera is starting to break down.

On my 50d there is a small tab that acts as a switch to turn the camera on. That tab is plastic, and it got bent somehow, so wasnt engaging. Its on the battery door. I bent it back in place and it worked, then bought a new door on amazon for $7, just in case that little plastic tab broke off totally. Not sure if the 6d has the same thing, thought i would throw it out there.

If water got in (or moisture) use a q-tip and clean the contacts of the battery compartment. Make sure they're is a clean contact between the battery and the contacts in the compartment. See if there is any dirt on the q-tip, too. That can help verify assuming it fixes the problem. I flood underwater lights now and then. I dry them out and then have to clean the contacts, put in a new build and I'm good to go. Don't it one on my N90 when I flooded it in a lake. Dried it out, cleaned the contacts and it worked fine.

You should try a fresh battery. Maybe it's a batery problem. I had a defective battery, and my 6D stayed of.
