Is Kenko the same quality? Should I have been notified?

If I'm not mistaken Kenko bought Hoya, so they may claim that they are one in the same. I'm not sure if the glass processing quality has been integrated but my guess is that they are made the same and branded differently.

Hoya Pro Solar Filter  is pretty good
