Title: Where is my Canon 44.7 MP dSLR Camera
Post by: Goofy on January 14, 2014, 14:25
Okay, where the heck is the Canon dSLR that was to be released 08/2013 that was going to give the Nikon D800e a run for its money? At one time it was going to be named '1D S' but now seems to have been dropped of the face of the earth...

overkill.
And you'll need to buy $10,000 Zeiss lenses to get your pixels worth.

Let's do the math on payoff of the new Zeiss Lens:

26,316 Subs on Shutter for break even point!

44.7 MP is not enough for web…
Why not buy a Sinar P3 with this nice accessory:

And with Canon's current pricing scheme, the body will cost $10000 too.

Unless the next camera is 576 megapixels I wont upgrade. For me anything less then the resolution of the human eye is not going to cut it.

And yes, someone already created a gigapixel image, lol

Useful megapixels for most of us has plateaued. The race should now be sensor quality.....dynamic range....noise reduction.etc.

I suppose it's easier than using a sheet of Velvia, but it's a heck of a lot more expensive.

Someone talking some sense at last! Extended dynamic range is the advancement that will most likely get me spending my money to upgrade.

One thing against digital backs is their poor low light performance vs modern CMOS sensors.

Exact.
When you see the difference of quality that you have comparing full frame sensors with medium format ones you understand that there is a huge hole to fill in the middle.

The 6D is quite phenomenal for its low-light performance.

However many and however perfect, can they shoot stock-quality photos without any trouble at ISO 3200? The Canon 6D does.

Most of the tests that have seen about high ISO noise give Nikon winner over Canon.
Then in the real use I don't know.

Here the first Canon is in 8th position.

I must say, those results come as a real surprise to me. But then I've only got older Canon models to compare the 6D with (the 5D MkII being my previous camera). Maybe the Nikon guys really have been having a ball while we've Canonistas trailed along behind them.

I'm thinking of regressing to a micro 4/3 like the GX7 or thereabouts. I really hate big cameras now.

Here you go Goofy: http://www.us.ricoh-imaging.com/645z/ (http://www.us.ricoh-imaging.com/645z/)

50MP CMOS sensor.  If you really want to blow the D800 out of the water.
