I can't get the Windows version to download.  The loader program keeps bombing on me.  Has anyone had any luck with the Windows version?

Download now before the Photoshop Lightroom beta 4 build expires February 28, 2007.

Does anyone know if this means that the programme will expire in February so you will lose anything you have put into it or the ability to download it will cease ?

I have v3 and decided not to use it after thinking about this.  I am pretty sure that on the start up screen (they stay up for so long with adobe products) it says that the license expires.

Once the full version comes out, which I beleive is rumoured to cost about $200, the beta version will no longer work.  Maybe they will offer it at a discound for beta users (ie, an upgrade license) but I dont beleive they have said anything re pricign yet.

to further what cjphoto said...

you won't 'loose' your info if you buy the new licensed version, however if you refuse to buy the licensed version then you are stuck... your edits will be 'lost'.

I think they have a little ways to go before the program is worth $200  I think it is still a fair bit behind aperature (and I am an apple sceptic)

I took a look at it. It had some nice potential, but there were some things I didn't like. Mostly the library and how you and to build it. I felt the program should be able to look at your file structure and build its own library.

Went to the Adobe forums and found that many others shared that opinion. Their response was basically, this is a great feature and if you can't understand that, then maybe this isn't the software for you. That's when I uninstalled.

I agree.  I have built up my file system to suit my needs.  Maybe if I knew I was going to be using this long term I would make adjustments and the additional funcationality would be usefull but as it was only temporary, it did make it quite complicated to do the simple things I wanted done.
