Hi there,
I have an image I took in summer of Big Ben. I have thought to make an object selection of it so then designers could use it for all kind of uses like posters, and so on.

Now: I started from bottom to top where I realize is very difficult to make a clean selection. Please see the images.

Do you believe that I could get a clean selection? - please look top of the tower.

Yes it can be done. Do a quick selection and then use refine edges tool. Just search on youtube. That will help you much better.

I do selections using the Photoshop Pen tool on cars. Manmade lines tend to work fairly consitently with the Pen tool.

Not to steal your thread... What sites keep selections (clipping paths) intact when selling? I went to iStock back in 2003/2004 because they did (and still do). Others sites?

The other consideration is use of an image of a famous building.

Big Ben appears to be non-editorial in iS, DT, Ft and SS, FWIW. On SS, the most 'Popular' is an isolation of the tower, and there are many more on SS and iS, Ft and Dt. So the question is how worthwhile commercially would bothering to isolate it be, although the skills practice could no doubt be applied to other projects.

Excuse-me ShadySue, do you suggest that is not worth to isolate it or not? You confused me a little though I understood that there are many so don't submit other image. Is that right?

I'm suggesting that practising the skill won't do you any harm, but as there is so much competition in each of the main agencies (you'll need to check any other agencies yourself) that you may not earn much directly from doing it.
Once you've prefected your isolation technique, you can go on to use it on other files.
