I have Nikon D80 and I noticed that my images look different when I convert them into TIFF in Capture NX than in PS Camera RAW. Colors look more natural in CNX. Also, images look a bit sharper and less yellow than in PS Camera RAW. But, in the same time, I know PS Camera RAW in details, which I can't tell for CNX. So, the only thing I don't like about PS Camera RAW is the way he renders Nikon NEF images. Does someone knows some specific settings in PS Camera RAW to make images look like they are rendered in CNX?

I also see the same difference between images rendered in CNX2 and PS Camera RAW. Does anyone has a clue how to set up PS Camera RAW for better rendering?

No you cant! you can come close but no way near the brillant colors of NX. Reason being the PSACR clips the colors, especially reds and yellows, rendering artifacts, haze etc which ofcourse are rejects as far as Stock is concerned.
For a Nikon user NX is truly a must.

In fact, there is a way to force Camera Raw in PS to work as CNX. Look at this thread:

Thanks for posting the link whitechild. The beta product from Adobe did not work for me, i.e. the PS Camera Raw did not see it. Anyone else tried this with more luck?

Adobe has a set of presets to mimic the starting points ofthe various cameras manufacturers presets. You can download them from Adobe Labs. Matt Kloskowski's Lightroom Killer Tips (http://www.lightroomkillertips.com/2008/presets-camera-profile-presets/) discussed this a while back. I tried it out on my laptop and it worked pretty well, for me using CaptureNX just interrupts my workflow so I have not been using it for a while.

After upgrading to the newest version of Camera RAW, I managed to get the Camera Profiles to appear there. After choosing Adobe standard beta 2, the rendered file looked very close to how it usually looks in Capture NX.

I tried it and it's still not the same. It's better, but still not like CNX. Light colors are lighter than in CNX. I see difference between very light colors in CNX, bu in Camera Raw those differences are less visible. Specifically in white wall and very light shade. In CNX this shadow is much more visible than in Camera Raw

You're right, I spoke too fast after seeing only one picture. Perhaps someone has edited the provided profiles with the profile editor and achieved a satisfactory result? Inany case, it seems that we are stuck with CNX for best rendering.

Said it before but here goes.

For Nikon and only for Nikon. Just forget PSACR , Lightroom etc ( lightroom being a good organizer, nothing else).
For a Professional result the Graphic industry on the whole use Nikons NX2, its optimized for its professional cameras and the only one that doesnt clip certain channels.
Anything else is a compromize not a solution.
