Some of you know me, and perhaps some newbies who were not around last Winter don't.
I usually am absent from this forum 9 months out of the 12. The reason being I'm out shooting
Landscapes in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.

I do not upload to stock sites 9 months out of the year.

So where am I going with this post? Be patient and I will give you some of my "Super Secret Photoshop Tips" for FREE.
Most of my tutorials are produced during the 9 months I'm absent from stock sites. So I want to share
with all my good friends here in Microstockgroup some of the "tuts" I produced this Summer.

I'll start with this one, and please bear in mind that I am more than willing to help anyone along with this hobby.

Enjoy and be well,
The MIZ

Is that when you read the books that all your tutorials come from, when do your  9 months start again?

Gee you sound as though you don't like me very much.
Especially after your rude remarks to me. This is the second time.

If you don't like me please just don't read my posts here.
Move on with your negative attitude, I really don't appreciate it, or you.

Thanks for your unkind words to me,
The MIZ

Well if you don't like peoples replies stop posting topics that are just a way to increase traffic to your website.

I am always very sceptical of somebody that posts information based on something that is freely available elsewhere on the web, do you have any ground breaking tutorials that you've discovered yourself.

Also you make yourself out as an expert and yet your images are not accepted on many sites and those that are aren't what I'd describe as huge sellers.

You replied to a thread on DT about getting a white background and yet the information you gave was totally wrong, as was pointed out by myself and others, so clearly you are not an expert as this is basic information.

I don't have a problem with you or your website, my problem is the way you make out that you've discovered something new, well in actual fact it's stuff that is available in any Photoshop book or across many Photoshop tutorial sites, and have been for years, they certainly aren't 'Secrets'

But by all means have fun with your hobby.

Please stop with the pimping threads, or at least limit them. The cheesy sales pitches are getting very old. "Act now and you'll receive a second __________(insert product name) absolutely free....." If I wanted to read commercials I wouldn't come here.

Crap.  I agree with the pimping comments, but does that make me a hypocrite or what?  I watch Robert's tutorials and I wish the Photoshop Masters could just ignore his threads.  We are not all naturals at it and some of us have actually benefited from his videos... please don't chase The Miz away.

Ok, I'm not gonna argue. Thanks for your feed back.

Even if EVERY trick of Miz' tutorials COULD be found somewhere in a book (or in 10 books), then I would still prefer his video tutorials, and not just because they're free!  ;D

Many people (especially the not so young ones like me) hate studying bulky photoshop books - video tutorials are easier, and much more "hands-on".
It's nice to view one of them, then go to photoshop, try it out and say "hey, it really works".
Of course Miz did not INVENT those tricks, that was done by those fantastic Adobe software guys.
So thanks Miz for not making me read those tough 'n bulky books - you made it so much easier for me/us.

What exactly is he selling?  He is giving information away for free.

It's pretty clear to me at least that he is posting in an irreverent style to generate a little light-hearted humor.  I'm not sure why this is unclear to others.

Firstly it is not that he is selling something that bothers me, it's not the way he keeps posting threads that then drives traffic to his own website, it's not even the adverts or any referral links on the websites that bothers me.

What bothers me is the titles such as "Some SUPER SECRET Techniques Revealed for the first time here" when in actual fact they are not secret and they are not new.

I'm sure like me you occasionally read threads where someones photographs have been taken and then vector art created from them, or when somebody sells someones images on eBay, and I'm sure like me you think it's a bad thing that someone has taken the time and effort to create such an image only to have it ripped of by somebody else who then takes the credit for all the hard work involved.

Well the tutorials on his site are not new, there are hard working people that create these tutorials and techniques, and either publish them on websites for free or publish books to gain their compensation.

I'm not saying he had done anything illegal but IMO the title of this thread and others suggests that it is he that has created these techniques.

Form your own opinion it's a free world apparently.

If I may please:

I have been using Photoshop now for 10 years. I don't expect anyone to dare think that I am an expert at this.
All my tutorials are techniques I have developed all along my learning process.

NOT any one of them are copied or plagiarized. I simply developed these techniques by reading and watching
tutorials myself in my 10 years.

I make no qualms about promoting my site, yes I do. However, it is NOT a Microstock related forum. Instead it is
targeted strictly as a Fine Art photography site, and photoshop tutorials. It is not a commercial site,
it is privately owned and operated by myself. It is a rather small collection of members....maybe 50 I think, no more

I did not believe my site would conflict with this forum simply because this site is apples, and mine is oranges.
I did not intend to cause a ruckus or upset this forum.  For that I apologize.

I will therefore desist posting tutorials, and lay low.

I am truly sorry if I offended anyone at all.

It's sarcasm RT.  He's just having a little fun.  I understand that it rubs you the wrong way,  but I think you misinterpret what he is doing.

Oh well, let's get back to making money.   8)

I, for one, appreciate and have learnt a lot from RJMiz's tutorials (some techniques were easily translated into my PSP7).  So please, RJMiz, don't stop posting your tutorials.

Adelaide

It isn't some secret.  Just go to his website occasionally.  It doesn't change.

Firstly , who forces you to read or to watch ?

Secondly , did you thought that maybe some newbie or a person with less knowledge than you claim to have , is learning about blending modes , levels , curves etc , and probably find his tutorial useful ?

Maybe even someone heard about burn tool or blend if option from miz for the first time.

I can consider my knowledge above the level of most of his tutorials , but I watch them still sometimes,  I find that we do same thing in a different way , but I find his less complicated.

If I was starting to learn I would find them exactly like the title of his post are

Than again , maybe you are one angry bookseller  ;D

I've learned a lot of techniques from The Miz and for that I'm extremely grateful.

A big, big THANKS.

Yes, I probably could have got them from a book But a book doesn't give them, step by step, in that unmistakable way and distinctive voice.

Whilst I love books (I write them, as well as read them) It's awkward using one to learn a photoshop technique. The pages turn by themselves and have to be weighed down by an empty coffee cup. I lose my place and have to search for it again. Some books aren't very clearly written and you only discover that when you get them home and actually try to use them. And my desk is already cluttered enough as it is.

Much better to watch a technique demonstrated, step by step on the screen and actually see it happen.

Good on you mate. Thanks again. Ignore the critics. They're usually pretty sad people, anyway. That's why they're critical.   :)

Stephen Fry, on critics:- "Imagine, you get to Heaven and St Peter asks what you did with your life and you say, 'Oh I just said what other people did wrong!'"

I AM a Photoshop expert. I teach a summer college course o it each year at a local university and make my living designing web sites for myriad companies (the photography thing is my hobby). However, it's always fun to see how people reach the same results through different techniques.

Keep posting MIZ...I like your "super secret techniques" approach...it's like getting the "private eye decoder ring" in a box of cereal!   :)

Miz, thank you for your tutorials. I'm learning from you as are others.
Don't let the "experts" get you down.  Your stock work is simply excellent,
and you have much to offer.

Remember, Miz, some people either don't get your sense of humor for one reason or another, or simply don't have a sense of humor themselves. Your best bet is to simply dodge their flaming arrows and expose your backside to them in a gesture of respect.

The miz,

Could we post your tutorials on our forums at Zymmetrical?

http://www.zymmetrical.com/info/forum/

I think they will be a great benefit for older and current members.

let me know

To all of you that are bothered by the Miz just stop reading his posts.  He's obviously been a help to a lot of people and if you can't see that his 'top secret' heading was 'tongue in cheek' then you need to get a sense of humour. Why do people get so offended by someone trying to have a bit of fun and at the same time help others.

I want to humbly thank those who support my ideology. My only real motive
to posting here in this great forum, is to help others, and have an occasional laugh once in a while.

Some of you see it the way, as were my intentions all along.

Many thanks to you.
