Title: Pixmac didn't pay on the 15th as per their TOS
Post by: lisafx on November 17, 2013, 20:42
I haven't been able to get a response from Pixmac as to why they didn't pay out on the 15th, as their TOS says they will.

Was Friday a holiday in Europe?  I haven't gotten a reply to an e-mail about it.  I guess they don't work weekends either?

Hopefully it will come through Monday.  Every other site that pays on the 15th paid out on Friday, or a day early on Thursday.

Dear Lisa,

we are tesrribly sorry, we are facing some difficulties with our database for several days so we were unable to send your money on Friday. But now you should have your money already.

Sorry for the inconenience.

Thanks very much Lucie.  The money did come through today.  It's only your excellent record of timely payment in the past that made me concerned when it didn't happen this time.  :)

My balance had been sitting at 49.9 since the end of October and I went to see what it was after reading your post. I was puzzled to see a "Ready to Pay" icon so I clicked it. After being asked to provide my name and some other details I'd have sworn I did a long time ago, it appeared I can cash out - pixmac has changed the payout threshold to $25.

Am I behind the times in thinking it was $50? I know that I checked some time earlier this year and it wouldn't let me cash out as it said I didn't have enough.

It'll have to wait until December 15th now, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter as it's only $49. It did make me wonder though what had happened with the merger of pixmac and pond 5.

I found an old thread from this spring where I'd complained about being charged fees to receive my last payout from them (never resolved - pixmac just threw up their hands and blamed PayPal). In the spring I thought this was the last time I'd be paid by pixmac as it'd be pond 5 in the future, but here we are near the end of the year and things are still the same as in the spring.

What's going on with merging the two sites, their content, payouts, etc.? Have they sent something out to contributors and I missed it somehow?

I thought it was $50.  There have been changes like not having too provide a copy of your ID.  I don't remember receiving any notice about it though.  Anyway, glad you were able to cash out. :)

So the good surprise  - I got e-mail this morning that Pond5 has paid me

The not so good news is that fees still apply, so instead of $49 I get $2.21 deducted as a fee.

No other agency charges fees to be paid via PayPal and Pond5 is out of line. Still.

OK, I'll rephrase. I'm not with any other agency that takes a fee from my earnings

Yep, fees should not be the burden of the contributor. The agency should see it as a cost involved in getting their payments issued.
