I am sure I must not be the only one in this situation. 3 weeks ago I contacted Pond5 to have an update since I had 130 videos pending for review and has been pending for a week.
They replied to me with a generic message telling that Hurricane Sandy and launch of the photo section made review time longer, which is understandable. They say they usually review in 7-10 days time.
Two weeks later (4 weeks after submitting), I contacted them again, and I received a Copy and Paste of the same generic message, word for word. I replied asking them to give me a more detailed answers.
I thought to post the information here and some might be wondering when their videos or photos will get reviewed... If you ask me not anytime soon, don't know how many they usually review per day, but their desks are full:
Hi Patrick,
We've had a significant amount of uploads recently. With videos alone, there are nearly 15,000 clips awaiting approval (photo submissions are currently at 59,000) . But I can assure you our Curators are going through everything as quickly and carefully as they can. Our system is fair and sorts all uploads by order of when artists hit the submit to Curator button for approval, as if you are waiting in line. If your footages are editorial, we can quickly make the exception to approve time-sensitive material.
To take care of you, we have forwarded your email to our Curatorial team. Unfortunately, we cannot officially give you a date of when your work will be looked at. Thank you for being patient. Your clips will be approved shortly.
Cheers,
Belle
Customer Service, Pond5
I liked the last sentence (liked as in funny): Your clips will be approved shortly.

When customer services do that I think its a lack of respect for the people providing their jobs.
Also, there have been no replies to my tickets about their piss poor photo editing tools
-
I uploaded a few hundred there then stopped. Closing the account I opened only a few weeks ago. They don't make my dinghy rise after all.
-
It is not unusual to wait a few weeks for a review. If you sell stock you have to practice some patience.
-
curious that I have talked with them by email during 10 days back and forward (over 20 emails) answering my doubts, submitting my portfolio etc

Sorry to contradict but a month of review time for most agencies is not common practice.
-
UPDATE:
After receiving that first non-generic message two days ago, I received and email by the curators telling me all clips have been approved.
I guess contacting them a few times and asking some answer finally paid off.

They got hit by Sandy and I'm sure they are working eager to get their operations back to a full 100%.
Out of all the agencies and the way they do business I'd put them right 2nd after SS. They simply deliver.
I upload my stuff and just know it will sell so who cares about review time?

I'm glad I can be an inspiration. :D
I've been with Pond5 since 2007 and mostly sell footage there.
Had a few photo sales with them but they're not my bread and butter at Pond5 - it's still early days.
You just got to love an agency that pays you 50% AND you can set your own prices.
They are my number 4 best seller out of over 20 agencies.
Your mileage may vary.
Oops and regarding views, I can help you there as well.
When you click on "your uploads" from the drop down menu of "MyPond" just a do a click on any thumbnail to get to the item page and it tells you there how many views you had.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
-
Don't be concern about 'Views' looks at sales only. More views do not translate into more Sales...

Click click, thank You for kind explanation.
All clear.

+1!

footage reviews at Pond5 have 'always' taken at least several weeks; photo reviews usually just a few days. so i just keep feeding the q and they'll get done when they get done.

Wow, at least now I know that somebody is buying photos on POND5 :)
Thx God, we have SS, IS, FT ...... There can also stock rookies, with small portfolio, do some business.
POND5 is great for videos, but for photos ???
NOt only sales, also my views are still on zero.
Same photo uploaded on DT on the same day before ca. 1 month.
Just for example on DT 24 views 2 sales, on SS 4 sales...
POND5 0 views 0 sales
And how many time did You spent for uploading Your 4131 photos?
Whether it was worth it ?

all agencies should consider hiring staff in Australia ;D or NZ so they can truly be working round the clock.
