Title: Help Price
Post by: superdone on December 30, 2015, 11:35
Hello,
I joined P5 yesterday and I am a newbie at video.

I have no idea about price to be set for my first uploaded video, so I opt for automatic solution and P5 set it to 10 dollars. Is Price right, low, high? I saw lots of video with preice set to 40 dollars.  What is your strategy, if any? Can you give some hints?

Another question about the price too. Does it increase with the numbers of download, or is it fix?

Thanks a lot

You determine the price, no matter the count of downloads. $10 is nothing for footage. Videoblocks sells it at $49 and there you get 100% commission. So I price my clips at least at $49 at Pond5. I don't want to see the same thing happening to footage as happened to image prices.

I just lifted the price of all my 4000 videos to $79. Many of them were $59 but why undercut SS and other agencies, VB being the exception. If you price at $10, $20, $30 or around those kind of paltry sums, firstly customers will know you are an amateur and may look for better footage. Secondly, you won't last long in the business because you don't value your work and you simply won't cover costs.
