Author Topic: is uploading 4000 images to P5 worth the effort ? (Read 5668 times)

Hi!

I am on Pond5 through Yaymicro api program and I am considering uploading to Pond5 directly.

They do not have "upload and forget" offer for contributors

. I contacted them I received a bot-like response that I can send them pictures on a hard drive, but still would need to make thousands of clicks to get them sent. I consider their system quite laborious e.g. it does not read about half of the titles of my images and it seems that I would need to spend about 3-5 days getting it all sent to their curators.
What are you experiences? Are they worth all this effort ?

If you go to their photos department and sort all photos (7 million) by sales, the top selling file has 41 downloads. So I really don´t think that at the moment photos is a strong subject for them.

But they are a fair trade agency and their business is going up. I only have 127 images there, but already got a few sales.

So i think before you upload 4000 files, why don´t you just upload 300 and see how it goes?

It would be wonderful if pond5 became a stronger photo agency. They do really well with video, so who knows.

StockSubmitter supports submitting photos automatically to Pond5 and will support vectors soon aswell.

Submitting 4000 images manually would probably not worth it yet as cobalt mentioned above.

Try submitting few hundred and see if it will worth it to upload the rest.

I'd echo this sentiment. It probably won't be an instant financial success, but I think Pond5 seems like a good agency to build with for the future.

Yep... If only they were willing to take care of post-uploading tasks.... Now, as has been pointed out above, there is little sense in spending a few days getting pictures sent to the review.

I uploaded over 700 images and found their process cumbersome.. not sure if worth the effort as they seem far stronger with video than images yet. However they are fair trade and I support their contributor-friendly business approach.

May just giving 50% royalty share be called "contributor-friendly business approach" ? Having received a bot-like response to my e-mail shows they just don't care.

I agree with the opinions/feelings already stated here regarding pond5, I don't really believe they are worth at the moment but as mentioned they are a fair agency, that said if you don't have many people on your portfolio you can pretty much submit 800 files with 5 clicks

- select 800 files (1 click)
- set price (2 clicks)
- send to curation (2 clicks)
