"Help us keep Pond5 the Artist (and Buyer) Friendly Marketplace!

Dear Artist,

Youre receiving this email because there may be clips in your Pond5 portfolio that are priced lower on competitor sites. You (and we) risk losing sales if the same content can be found for less elsewhere other sites where you earn fewer royalties.

Pond5 is rapidly becoming the go-to global destination for footage buyers, which means Artists like you have more opportunities than ever to thrive. Weve accomplished this through the depth and breadth of our collection, our best-in-class search experience, and competitive pricing.

Wed like to ask for your help to continue making this happen. If you have content on Pond5 that is priced lower on competitor sites, please adjust your pricing to be no higher than the competitor price. Giving Artists the ability to set their own prices is one of our most important founding principles, but we also have to protect the integrity of our marketplace. (Of course, we always welcome higher-priced exclusive content.)

Our team can provide assistance with bulk price changes and other concerns. For help, just contact us at [email protected]. Thank you for making Pond5 the number one global content marketplace!

Sincerely,
The Pond5 Team"

Are they panicing after Videoblocks crazy annoucement!?
My prices are just slightly above Shutterstocks prices.

Dear Pond5, you're receiving this message because there are other sites that are selling my photos thousands of times each month while I only have a sale every few months with you.
Please, adjust your number of sales to match them and I will lower my prices a bit.

Dear Pond5,

I love your site and promote it a ton, just look at my links and hits! That being said I can not eat and pay my bills with just one site. The site you are referring to is VideoBlocks, well you see to get that $49.00 price point you have to pay a yearly subscription kind of like your membership pricing which I might add is lower then regular pricing! This is the pot calling the kettle black. I will decided when to adjust my pricing and what to do with my work. Thank-you

If my memory serves me correctly didn't FT do this years ago? They even demoted folks from what I remember once they found out that they had the same images for a lower price on other sites.

Sadly, my prices at P5 have already been lower than SS, and the sales are still pitiful.

I do not sending my best works to VB.

They want you to pull out from other agencies and be exclusive with them and you can set any deserving price for your works.

Something that I've been pondering lately  ;D

Well, the pricing war which I warned a year ago has begin... thx to VB/SB other agencies have sales problems. Now dump your prices to match VB's if you all so much enjoy this pricing tier. #muahahahahaha

I'm going to raise my prices in response. Sales at Pond5 are not that frequent, so I might as well try it.

Well you seem to enjoy that pricing tier to an extent, as 394 of your HD clips are available for $49 on Dissolve. An agency that pays 30%, so you get $14.70 for an HD sale.

So just to clarify and confirm your logic here:

Old Storyblocks   -   100% of $49:   Horrible.
New Storyblocks  -   50% of $49:     Absolutely disgusting.
Dissolve              -   30% of $49:     Fine.

Yes, only about 10% of your content is at $49 on Dissolve, before you use that as some excuse, but that's not the point. Less than 10% of my revenue comes from Storyblocks.

Oh, that tier is because of Pond5 prices. Not from VB ;) And 400 files is about 3% of our database and only our old not really great sellers.

I am surprised that so many people hate P5.
Personally I like and support them. It is the only micro site I find fair for contributors. I try to put my prices competitives as possible to bring clients here because even if prices are "low" I still get here much more ( per download) then elsewhere...
BTW, this year I had 2 months with income at Pond higher than at SS.

Pond5 rather uniquely are offering the contributor the choice to carry on with your race to the bottom or you can race to the top.  Trouble is contributors need to act together if they want to race to the top, but don't trust each other enough to make that choice possible.  Consequently, Pond5 are left in no mans land, unable to join other agencies in the race to the bottom and priced out of the market by their own contributors.
There have been many calls for contributors to get together to give some kind of strength in numbers, you don't need it, just throw all your media at Pond5 exclusive and treble your prices, that would turn the market upside down in an instant and create a race to the top.

Ready, steady, Go!

Seems we have a false start, refused to start due to lack of trust, didn't take long :(.  We need to act together, refusal to do so means the bottom is inevitable and we know you don't want that.  How do we earn each others trust, or do we wait for the bottom to come racing up at us and hit us in the face, before we seek answers.

FROM : https://www.videouniversity.com/articles/selling-stock-footage/

"He started by selling clips on his own website BassVisuals.com, but sales were so low he started submitting his footage to all the major stock footage sites. Paul says in his article Make Money Selling Stock Footage Video that it is best to let others sell your footage. The big agency sites are where all the customers go when they want stock footage. These large sites do all the marketing so why compete with them?"

I'm actually in the agreement mode. No more content on VB, Dissolve. Lets see how they piece to the bottom with no or really crappy content.
