Yes, but 1-3 minutes minimum is still important because our brains are way too good at picking up repeating patterns.

But a one minute track looped to five minutes... I don't think anyone would notice. 10, 20, 30 seconds... sure. And if it was just a 'seagull sounds CD', but if it's the soundtrack to a video that people are watching. Should be ok!

Yes, which is why I wrote 1-3 minutes minimum.  ;)

Imagine a slow video with ambient, natural sound only. If there are any specific sounds, maybe seagulls fighting, it becomes very obvious if that repeats, as nothing in nature really repeats IDENTICALLY. Especially if the video is 20 minutes long, and it repeats 20 times. A one-minute loop might not be noticeable, but it can be, so a longer real recording is always better.

If a car or a boat ruins everything in the middle, just cut that part out and stitch the rest.

Longer is better, and that way the buyer (me, for example) can cut it up into smaller pieces to try to randomize it even more over a more generic background atmosphere.

Cider Apple:
What file format are they in? They don't except mp3 now only .wav and aiff + maybe some other high end formats
