I have done plenty of commercial directing over the years, latest one being a promo for a young up and coming pop group. Pond5 is just about the last place on earth where I would upload any of my short clips.

Are the contracts of the other major agency different from this?

OK, what's the bad news?  Sorry but can you point out any bad changes you've spotted?

Look at the image.

While initially it seems scary, does it simply mean that we can't expect attribution on usage? As in, no one can say "hey thats my clip, it should have a 'by THPStock' credit line overlaid in the corner"?

Yeah, I'm not sure what they mean by "moral rights".

moral rights is the right of an author or other creative artist to protect the integrity and ownership of their work

Are you sure about that, or is that just what you're inferring from the text? And what do you mean by the integrity of their work?

Is this just like when Twitter, Instagram and Facebook said they could use your images however they wanted and then everybody thought that meant they were going to start selling their work?

@ Zorba: even if this is an english speaking forum, it's not very polite the way you labelled the .PNG file  ;)

Ha ha ... Pond5 and moral rights.  ::)

The tale of the startup that raises money, doesn’t gain traction, doesn’t build a viable customer base and doesn’t earn revenues...

It's legalese for "our customers don't have to give you attribution when they use your video".

Nothing to see here, move right along...

Which is what they are allowed to do by that wording, even if they never actually do it.
It's like when iS made contributors sign that they could distribute images free for 'promotion'. Innocently, I thought that all it meant was that they were too mean even to pay us for images they might use in advertising, but in fact, it meant that they can negotiate deals whereby they get paid a lot for allowing our content to be distributed for free (or very little under the Connect scheme), e.g. http://steelhouse.com/creative-getty-partnership/?esource=EML_GI_BAT_RTN_PRO_2016WK41_ENLTech.ALT_E1V2_non_none_151742_enUS_SEG (http://steelhouse.com/creative-getty-partnership/?esource=EML_GI_BAT_RTN_PRO_2016WK41_ENLTech.ALT_E1V2_non_none_151742_enUS_SEG)
So any concern about contract wording is valid.

Protection of "moral rights" is more of a thing in Europe, than in the US.

well..it makes sense in Italian. It's a "typical" blasphemy

Not that I care too much about religion, but on most Italian speaking forums such a swear would be probably censored

ouch sorry, I didn't realize this system published filenames... I thought it only showed the file itself.

really didn't mean to show it publicly: only the content was my interest.

sorry I didn't realize the system would have published also the filename.
This is my god and I praise this lord every day ;)

but the content of the the file is my main concern here

Exactly. Without that clause, we would have the right to demand that anyone who uses our clips must attribute us and may not alter the clip in any way. In other words, our clips would be unusable.
